If you look at our fixtures then it isn’t a bad run at all once you get January out of the way, the sort you would want for a run in.
-
We don’t, we need to beat the clubs of the level of Bournemouth, Wolves and West Ham away.
-
Win tomorrow and we are a point behind Man City, with all of the players coming back there is no reason we can’t finish above them at this rate. They look a side that needs freshening up.
-
City keep giving The ball away, even when they are passing around the back amongst themselves they pass it to the opposition.
-
Jackson missing another good chance.
-
It isn’t pressing for January though, which is the point I am responding to.
-
If Willock, Longstaff and Anderson are not long term then it is debatable that we even need an extra midfielder in January.
-
Yes, but if Schar and Botman were out for the season then you would expect the club to go out and get a replacement, rather than relying on Dummett as first choice.
-
The same reason you have Dummett and Ritchie in the squad, they are alright for a short term stand in for the odd game but you would not want to rely on either for any period of time, especially when you have a transfer window where you can do something about it.

We definitely need someone in as an injury to Dubravka is going to leave us badly exposed. His injury record is below… Are people saying De Gea is finished because he is without a club? Also, he isn’t going to get the wages he was on unless he goes to Saudi and he has apparently turned down a move there, so I don’t think he would be getting anywhere near that. We either get someone short term which he would be the obvious choice or we bring forward a move for a new keeper, which could be difficult mid season with us maybe not having the money to spend due to FFP and the selling club not wanting to sell mid season.
-
Is De Gea training with a club at the moment?
-
I’ve looked quickly so this could be wrong but City are 5 points down on the same games last season, whereas we are 5 points up on the same games. I said a few weeks back in this thread that I thought the league would be won on less points than last season, so if we can improve on last seasons points tally then we won’t be far off. If we can get through December and get some players back then there is no reason why we can’t join the likes of Liverpool in chasing Man City and Arsenal.
-
Am I the only one that still thinks we have an outside shot at winning the league??
-
No but VAR recommended a drop ball to the referee, rather than a corner to Brighton despite it already going out of play.

VAR shambles at Chelsea

I don’t think they have the players to battle and unsettle us, they do try to open up and play quick attacking football but that plays in to our hands.
-
It might be a long shot but if Forest are interested in Murphy I would go after Gibbs-White from them, depending on Forests finances either both deals can be permanent in January or loan with an obligation to buy. We can use the rest of the season to bed him in before he takes off next season, similar to the path used for Gordon.
-
I can’t believe we haven’t sorted out his contract yet.
-
His in game IQ is high level and is up there with any of the wingers we have had in the Premier League era. He just gets it.
-
His inclusion gives us the same balance down the left as we have down the right, which will only benefit Gordon and Barnes.
-
Looking at the CL table for Man Utd’s group, where do they finish if they draw with Bayern and Galatasaray beat Copenhagen? Do they finish 3rd or 4th? I can see that Galatasaray have the better head to head but Copenhagen is a tie.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Matt1892 replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
The bookies have us at 9/4 to qualify and PSG are odds on at 9/20 favourites. I agree with you though and feel it should be the other way around but I’m guessing it is due to us needing 2 results in our favour whereas PSG only need one. -
The Chronicle thinks Longstaff could be back on Saturday and Barnes next Thursday.
