  1. I know Howe has said that this is us done and could well be telling the truth but I do wonder if this is being said for the benefit of Chelsea agreeing the deal. Pizza Rob had us watching centre backs and I think we could still move for one of the right deal becomes available.
  2. He said we can push it closer to £100 million if we sell or commit to selling next summer, which is what we did.
  3. Works out about £93 million net, not including any loan fee for Hall. Hope said the budget was £75 million along with Several sources have confirmed that is the figure they are working towards and, because of Financial Fair Play, the only way to push it closer to £100m would be to sell a player now or bank on doing so next summer.
  4. If that is us done then Hope was pretty much spot on about the transfer budget.
  5. I went in to the window thinking we needed a LB, CM, RW and a young back up RCB, if we sign Hall then we would have signed half of the positions I thought we should have filled with one of them being a younger player who isn’t going to improve the first team straight away. We have added Barnes who I am happy with and is an improvement on ASM but I don’t think it was a priority position, same goes for Livramento who is potentially a very good signing but like Hall isn’t going to improve the first team straight away. So only two players that improve the starting eleven, which is why I have given the window a 7.5 if Hall signs.
  6. We were linked with him earlier in the window.
  7. A solid 7.5/10 window if we sign Hall.

    Lewis Hall

Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards discusses whether Chelsea teenager Lewis Hall will be moving to Newcastle for £30m: "I find this an interesting story. At the beginning of this window, Newcastle were told in no uncertain terms that Chelsea would not deal with them on Hall and they do not have £30m to spend at this moment either. They have been pretty consistent on that both on and off the record. "Newcastle do want a left-back and will target one before the end of the window but they would like a loan - with an option or obligation to buy - to help them with their Financial Fair Play obligations. Hall would tick all the boxes for Howe, being young and very good going forward. "I don't think Chelsea planned to sell Hall this window but having spent nearly a billion pounds under Todd Boehly's kid-in-a-sweet-shop regime they have huge problems in balancing the books. Only selling players can help with that. "I think this is one that could go down to the wire." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united

    Lewis Hall

It isn’t right. If a player was on more money and refused to leave for that reason then you would maybe have to look at compensating them for the difference between what they could earn with you compared to the new contract they were signing. However, if the player agrees to leave then the previous contract has been brought to an end by mutual consent with the player registration switching to their new club.

Who is the England under 21 centre back with 12 months left (I think) on his contract?
  11. Targett is a West Ham type signing.

Fair play to ? Rob as he called our interest a while back.
  13. If we are buying young British talent then how about Cole Palmer for the right wing creative role?
  14. “The first thing we knew about this was at 6am this morning. It is dreadful. I’m just coming to terms with it all.” “As a father you don’t want to know things like that happening to your daughter. The police have been round and she has made a statement to them.” “She has told us her phone has been hacked. We told her to take it down, which she has done but it’s out there now so it is too late.” “She is devastated because she didn’t want it released. We have known him since the under 21s. He has been part of our family for two or three years.” “Their relationship has not been good for the last few months. She is completely devastated by it all.“ “They were very much in love and have been together for a while. The police are dealing with it now.” Her Fathers statement.
  15. I would be more comfortable with a loan with an option to buy for £30 million next summer than spending that sort of money now. Chelsea might prefer that too as they will need to make sales next summer.
  16. The situations are completely different though; Mendy went to a trial and there was not enough evidence to convict outside of statements. Greenwood on the other hand had a audio recording and photographic evidence of his actions afterwards, with the case falling apart after the witness withdrew her evidence. That still leaves the photographic evidence and the audio recording, which there are no answers for that shows Greenwood in a good light or say that he didn’t do what he was originally accused of.
  17. This was the final game of the season and he doesn’t seem to know who to pick up, the first time picking Gordon up and then the next attack ball watching when Gordon drifts in and scores. If you then see the move where Miley hits the bar he is about 20 yards out of position and casually jogging back while Miggy has the ball, not even attempting to put any effort in to picking anyone up. The point Ponsaelius makes is a valid one, does Hall see himself as a left back or someone covering there to get first team experience.
  18. He looked good going forward but defensively he has poor positioning and is lazy to get back from being in attack.
  19. I have dug out the highlights from us beating Chelsea at home last season and Hall’s positioning is all over the place when we attack.
  20. I didn’t think he was that good in the last game of the season against us, his positioning was poor as was his work rate in getting back when Chelsea lost the ball. When you consider he was marking Miggy who doesn’t have the most dynamic movement off the ball, then he has a lot of work to do to be considered a £40 million footballer on ability alone.
  21. The issue with someone like Hall is you are buying potential when he hasn’t really done anything of note in the first team apart from a few bright appearances, so any deal would be based on huge add ons which is why Chelsea are unlikely to sell and instead push for him to go out on loan for a season to drive his value up. I agree with Kaka on the fee, I can’t see anyone paying £40 million for someone with half a dozen appearances in a position that doesn’t usually attract a high fee anyway. It would be a Chelsea thing to do.
  22. Chelsea will need to sell again next summer and I think they will be open to selling Hall then, they probably want a straight loan deal for 12 months first to try and raise his fee before they do sell.
  23. The article doesn’t really say anything and is a pain to copy due to the having an advert between every sentence.
  24. I’m not sure but he’s predominantly a left back.
  25. Chelsea also have Ian Maatsen who is potentially ahead of Lewis Hall too at left back.
