  1. Going to have to do some serious rebuilding if that happens. I can imagine that we will spend quite a lot of money if it does, though.
  2. So we shouldn't try to fix our midfield crisis that are actually happening right now and in the next month, just incase we get a couple of wingers injured in the future? What if those injuries happen to Bruno or Longstaff instead? Look at it this way: We have have 4 wingers, Isak and Livra can cover aswell (depending on Wilson and Trippier availability). We only play 2 at the time. So we would have atleast 2 extra when players return. Lets count this as +2. In midfield we only have Bruno and Longstaff only for a good while. Except from Miley, who is okay, but not 100% ready yet. We should also be careful with Willock. Lets count this as -1. So we have +2 wingers and -1 midfielder. If we sell a winger and and buy a midfielder, we still have more coverage on the wing than the midfield. We can never know whether our next injury will be a midfielder or a winger. Just because we're running very short on midfielders doesn't mean that it can't get even worse if we don't try to fix it. Quite the opposite if all 3 of them has to play 90 minutes every game.
  3. Atleast Barnes and Murphy are nearing a return, and if we don't sell Trippier then Tino can cover aswell. But I agree, the only place where we have a lot of senior players is in defence. At the same time, if selling Almiron means getting a midfielder then it might be worth it aswell. Because we're going to end up with way more coverage on the wings than in the midfield if we don't do this trade, so in terms of squad balance for the rest of the season this could be okay.
  4. Shame about the Real goal at 90+9..
  5. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-manchester-united-boost-28485683 Trying really hard to defend City with this one.
  6. Moyes didn’t mention the injury in his post-match presser but made his feelings clear on the penalty decision when talking about Areola, saying “Absolutely, he was fouled. I think it was a foul on the goalkeeper”. How was that a foul on the goalkeeper?

Agreed. In a perfect world we would keep Trippier and buy a midfielder, but we don't live in a perfect world.
  8. How is that a free kick..? Atleast wait to see if there's a goal before you blow the whistle so that VAR can correct.
  9. Even better, I had Petrovic giving me a total of 7p those 3 rounds. Took him out for this GW, and he instanly got 10p.
  10. Areola on the bench vs Arsenal, Man Utd and Brighton. 29p. I play him vs Sheffield Utd and they concede..

"Newcastle want to sell the player if Bayern makes a good offer" Feels kind of obvious though, doesn't it? Maybe he knows something, but most people could've made that claim quite comfortably without really knowing stuff. Edit: I know they reported that he wasn't for sale, but that's rarely true if you get a good offer.
  12. Liverpool was making a complaint about us selling ASM for €27m.
  13. Seems odd. They would still rotate, despite not being in Europe. If he were to play every game, he would just be out injured again.
  14. I thought that a 2 week break was really going to help him out, but didn't really seem like it. I'll hold on a little more just because Son, Bowen and Salah are all gone.
  15. Can't really sell Wilson this window unless we buy a striker. Would probably be a bit too crazy to be left with Isak only for the remainder of the season. I don't think selling Trippier would mean that we're giving up on the season, because atleast we still have Livra and Krafth.

99% of players of his calibre wouldn't even go to us in the first place, with the situation that we were in. Especially not for "just" £120.000 per week. If he wants to leave then I would thank him for everything he has done and wish him good luck. He deserves it. If you expect players to stay just to be loyal to their club in 2024, then I'm sorry, but that doesn't really happen anymore. They will stay if they feel like that's the best thing for them and their family in their current situation, or if the club can convince them to stay until the next window or something like that (or even force them to stay, but that can be risky).

This sounds like the type of conspiracy theory that the media would try to push just to get clicks. The players will know what's going on, and why. They are professionals, and they are not stupid. Do you have any example of players getting upset and fleeing a club because they sold an ageing teammate?

Both? What a silly rumour. They're worth 140m euros total according to transfermarkt. 75m for Kimmisch and 65m for De Ligt.

I think we would demand more than that. I also think they will be willing to pay more if they don't get Mukiele.

That's a good point. At the same time his defensive blunders were happening last season aswell. It just didn't happen as often as last couple of months, and also didn't get punished as often, while we were winning so many games anyways. His offensive contribution did make up for it, no doubt about that.

Apart from the possible personal reasons, he may also be tempted by having 1-2 final attempts at winning the Champions League, which he never has.

If we sold Bruno, we better buy a bloody good midfielder to replace him before the window closes. Because otherwise we are basically giving up on the season. That would hurt us more on the field with the midfield crisis we have. I believe our winrate without Bruno is also way worse than our winrate without Trippier.

I don't understand the uproar to be honest. It's been clear many times that this is a long term project. I don't think that our team will fall apart if we sell Trippier, definetly not considering the form he has been in. Are we supposed to keep him until he's 35? Feels like many people are just ignoring his age somehow. In todays football you have to trade players, whether you like it or not. Football is different from what it was 10-20 years ago. I might have to eat my words, but don't think that it's going to make a very big difference to the rest of the season unless Livra gets injured (I know that may happen, but it's not a cerainty). And again it might very well be that something is going on and that he wanted to leave, like others are saying. I also don't get why that would be a crazy thing. Players often want to change club nowadays, that's also different from 10-20 years ago.

And if we already had Phillips and wanted to swap him with an out of form Trippier we could've been saying "we can't afford to lose our only DM to sign an out of form 33 year old when we have 4 absences in midfield." Edit: This is purely from the perspective of a hypothetical scenario of us selling Trippier to be able to fund Phillips. It's probably not what's happening anyways.

We have a crisis in midfield right now. I hope we don't rush Willock back, and Anderson, Joelinton and Tonali is out for a long time. If we get another injury in the midfield it would be a full blown disaster, and fatigue is already bound to happen (all 3 midfielders playing 90 min per game). At right back atleast we have Livra, Krafth and even Jacob Murphy who can do a job there in the case of an emergency. Not ideal, but also not a disaster like in the midfield. That being said, shipping Trippier off to another club might not change anything at all in terms of whether we can loan Phillips or not. We might not even be interested in him, who knows.
