Here he was doing exactly what you see starting from minute 1.10...but in a jacket and tie and with wedding shoes !!! Knowing the character, I think he did it as if to say "you're booing me? Now I'll show you who I am."

Fun fact about Maradona... I don't remember the year but it was Milan-Napoli at San Siro (Maradona's first year in Italy and his first time at San Siro). In those years the players would enter an hour before the match to see the pitch firsthand and they'd come in wearing their club uniforms, so jacket and tie and "wedding" shoes. Napoli enters and 80,000 people are booing like crazy. There's a ball near the bench. Maradona picks it up, dribbles it a few times, then kicks it perpendicularly above his head but very, very high. When the ball comes back to his foot he repeats the same thing without the ball hitting the pitch... I didn't count, but I think he did it eight or nine times... San Siro went completely silent. I turned to my friend and he turned to me without saying a word....we couldn't believe it.

Maybe Cruiff's Ajax but I've never seen them play; anyway they were playing in a non-competitive Dutch league. Here we played against Platini's Juve, Maradona's Napoli, Vialli/Mancini Sampdoria, and Matthaus' Inter... a player like Zico came to Italy to play for Udinese, as if Mbappé play for Fulham today.

In terms of atmosphere it was an unforgettable final. Communism hadn't fallen yet and since there were no Romanian fans all the tickets went to us. 90,000 Rossoneri at the Nou Camp and 30,000 outside the stadium without tickets. We Ultras alone made 120 pullman. The best final, however, was in '94 against Romario's Barca, Koeman and Stoichkov... we had Baresi and Costacurta suspended and a week before Cruijff said that Milan had no chance, couldn't win... 4-0 and they never saw the ball . Thanks Cruijff for motivating us.

From '88 to '91 we played the most beautiful football I have ever seen... then Capello arrived, we continued to win but we were less beautiful to watch.

An unstoppable winger.

And Donadoni, Ancelotti, Tassotti...an unrepeatable team. They would have easily won against the Milan of the mid-2000s.

Leao is not world class, not even close.... and he never will be.

Maximize Woltemade's enormous potential by eliminating the wingers and adopting a 4-3-1-2... the German is too technical to be used as a lone striker like Isak, his ability to control the ball and quickly exchange passes with his teammates can be devastating. He could become a 20-goal and 15-assist player if paired with another striker. Buy a 10 like Nico Paz and you would have enormous and high-quality offensive potential. Joelinton can't play in a team that aspires to be among the top 4 or 5 in the Premier League. I know he's beloved by the fans, but I don't understand his use. The defense is already excellent in my opinion. Maybe just a goalkeeper. Find young players abroad rather than invest in players like Elanga.

I consider this a personal attack on my grandfather...I was writing this last night !!! Jokes aside... he'd seen thousands of matches in his life and knew a thing or two about football; he told me that Matthews was not only the best English player ever but also among the best in the world. He said that the only players better than him were Pelé, Di Stefano and Meazza.
-
Eddie/Howe... This is the secret to your defensive success. Last season Schar and Burn looked like Vidic and Stam. If Howe can make a bold decision for the attack too, he'll become my manager of the century.

The ball he put into the box when Barnes hit the crossbar was something delightful... a Pirlo-esque soft pass.

My grandfather escaped from the fascists in 1937 and took refuge in London returning to Italy only in 1959... no one in my family ever understood why he became a Villa fanatic while living in London. His sister laughingly said that he was probably screwing a whore from Birmingham, he replied that in England he only loved Stanley Matthews... he was so crazy that he often went from London to Blackpool to watch him play.
-
Ahahahaha..... I confess that since 1981 I have always been an Aston Villa fan but in the last three years I have seen maybe 5 Villans match and 60 of yours...
-
You have to be a great man not just a great footballer to be truly loved...but that's just my point of view.
-
True...it seems to me he's genuinely in love with you. I'm a little jealous, fuckin Geordies !!! He could become an idol like Zola was at Chelsea or Di Canio at the Hammers.

Monstrous Sandro tonight !!! Gullit once said about Franco Baresi: "A leader at the back, very strong and quick, with an excellent understanding of the game. As a defender, he could do everything. A lot of the time, he would know what the attacker was going to do before they knew themselves! How do you get past someone like that?" Replace "defender" with "midfielder" and one day we might say the same about Sandro.
-
It's not just your problem. Hungary is already a fascist country, we and Poland are slowly becoming so, and in Germany the far right is growing dramatically. You and France are the safest, maybe.
-
Sorry, didn't know that.
-
Is it just my impression or there aren't many Blacks in your fan base? I mean compared to other English fan bases where I see a lot of Blacks and Asians.
-
The Roma anthem is sung with the teams on the pitch and it's quite intimidating, especially when the music ends and people continue on their own.

My Way always works well, obviously they changed the meaning... halfway between hooliganism and love for Lazio.

I think this too and I think I wrote it this summer. It must be said that even though the technical level of Serie A has plummeted dramatically over the last 15 years, a young foreign defender who comes to play in Italy certainly learns something that can be very useful later abroad. Even an 18-year-old like Leoni, in his only unfortunate match for Liverpool, looked like a veteran who had always played in the Premier League. It's no coincidence that the only English players who have worked well in Italy have always been midfielders; defenders and attackers have often failed... I absolutely loved Des Walker when I saw him on TV; he was certainly world-class but when he arrived at Vialli and Mancini's Sampdoria (which was a great team) he seemed like a mediocre player (which he wasn't). Anyway, getting back to Thiaw, we unfairly slaughtered him last season but it wasn't his fault... Fonseca and Conceicao did enormous damage but, mistakenly, our anger was directed at some players who were not to blame. If Howe can correct his biggest flaw (general positioning, especially in certain situations like corners or set pieces), he'll soon become an irreplaceable player.

Of course he can do it, he played a few times for us as a RB but he remains a centre back. I'm happy he's started well with you, he deserves it He's a professional guy who's never caused trouble, even when he could have complained.
