Real Madrid got their number and will do them when it matters
-
kind of depressing to see how superior PSG have been while knowing that Liverpool will almost certainly go through
-
these nothing offsides are taking a lot of the fun out of football lucky lucky lucky Livarpool
-
times like this I'm glad we have a manager who's calm and steady, never gets too carried away after winning or too down after a defeat as right now the outlook for the final is pretty bleak, odds stacked against us and probably original game plan up in smoke this week keeping squad morale high and instilling a belief they can win is so important right now must be incredibly difficult though, as a fan I almost just want the season to end, which is ridiculous considering we're in a final and anything could still happen
-
as if losing Gordon this week wasn't enough when it rains it really fucking pours
-
Liverpool had all their injuries in last season's final and still won because Chelsea completely bottled it infuriating we can never catch a break
-
ah ffs if he's out that's gutting only just over a week ago him and Gordon were destroying Forest down the left with Hall involved in all 4 goals arguably our player of the season (after Isak) No Hall and Gordon for our biggest game in 2 years just confirms my belief that this club is somehow cursed
-
interesting that PSG have won their last 10 games, as well as 19 of their last 20 also unbeaten since November, scoring for fun, and Dembele in the best form of his career hopefully they'll be able to soften up this Liverpool team and dent their confidence ahead of the final however I'm not sure which is better for us: Liverpool get eliminated and then more motivated to bounce back by winning the LC or Liverpool progressing and being even more full of confidence? must be fun being a Liverpool fan
-
we were so impressive across the two games against Arsenal to get here seems a long time ago now but hoping the team can use that to give them some belief on their day they can give anyone a game Wham game feels like a bit of a distraction but that could also be a good thing the long waiti is actually torture
-
I thought Lewis-Skelly's red had no chance of being overturned but it was maybe we need to kick up more of a fuss like Arsenal
-
our main problem is how good this Liverpool team is this season they'll be super confident and won't feel any pressure just another of many finals for them, even if they lose they still have the league and maybe CL whereas our lot will be a bag of nerves especially the fans I think we'll need a large slice of luck to have any chance, judging by yesterday that seems remote maybe siege mentality being massive underdog is the best approach
-
what's even more galling is there was no VAR in previous rounds that resulted in MU's miles offside goal being allowed v Leicester in last minute I'm still clinging to hope that we can get Gordon's bad reduced to 1 game, it was soft as fuck compared to some of the actual violent shit other players have gotten away with (VVD, Kulusevski etc) Gordon usually causes TAA serious problems so this is just another win for Liverpool if it stands Overall incredibly deflating and just seems typical Newcastle luck
-
Wilson and Willock taken over from Longstaff and Burn (at LB) as this season's scapegoats now? positive with Wilson is he's getting more minutes under his belt hopefully if he's called upon in the final at some stage then he could make an impact
-
Liverpool are a better team and got the result literally everyone expected we were never going to upset their title procession at Anfield that said I think it's a closer game with Isak other way around them without Salah who knows just annoyed that once again we're struggling for any momentum leading up to the final
-
I was calling for Dubs in goal as think Pope is a bag of nerves with his feet but the level of criticism for the goal he conceded is unwarranted I think, it went through the legs of two of our players so he would have seen it late goal against Forest was much worse with his positioning imo
-
was always gonna be our Isak getting injured instead of Salah
-
whatever happens tonight I just hope we give a decent account of ourselves so we can forget about that second half showing against Forest I doubt Slot's touchline ban will have any impact on them but would be interested to see any data on how results compare when managers are banned
-
I've come round to the idea of this being a free hit play a different formation and try to surprise them in some way important to keep the goal difference respectable, no silly bookings and no injuries
-
I think rather than wishing injuries on their players we should just wish none of our players get injured
-
pretty sure Howe will go full strength as he's not big on rotation and this is the toughest league fixture going he will want to win it and that will be the message to the players I have no doubt I don't think we'll get anything, they're in good form, have no game next weekend, will be full strength and highly motivated to basically wrap up the title before our cup final timing is pretty shit with our recent form being patchy and the defence back to shipping 3-4 regularly I've never felt so deflated after a win before, on paper it looks like a classic 4-3 and a great 3 points but the second half was such a horror show and shows there's a lack of confidence and nervousness in the team Pope's kicking really doesn't help so I would probably go back to Dubravka, but doubt that will happen now my fear is Livepool will gain a big psychological advantage over us ahead of the final feels like our best chance is them being complacent, otherwise an easy 3-0 home win
-
honestly think their midweek game at home will help them, unless they pick up injuries they'll win it and be full of confidence coming into the final they won't have too much time to prepare and overthink it same as MU knocking out Barca a few days before beating us in the final obv hope I'm completely wrong
