Mount was a very good player in my eyes, perfect pressing CAM and had goals to his game. Just he played so much football from an early stage, with no rest and since the injuries started, I can’t see him ever having a full season without them. Lose the pressing element, you lose a lot of his game and he becomes average very quickly. Expensive player to keep too, because no club is taking on those wages.

Completely passed me by the game is tonight, European football always makes me forget when there’s Prem games. Think how the Man Utd game went was ideal. Able to bring off the big guys to rest their legs for 20 mins is so huge at this stage of the season. Whilst Palace had a demoralising defeat and will be looking at the FA Cup. As usual, we start off with right tempo, I don’t expect Palace to match it and we can get a lead at HT which is managed during 2nd half. Feels like the mistakes are less in our game too (famous last words). Just hope we zip ball around quick early on, that’s something that has grated me in league games our slowness when a side sits off us.

I always feel someone like Ashley will be good for a club who’s failing in championship. He’s a gambling man, and will want prem football because of the revenues that gives and the advertisement exposure. So in the short term would look to get into that league as soon as he can and spend to do it. Long term, the club will feel the pain as others invest in their infrastructure and position themselves better longer term (he won’t), but if fans just want to get up and happy to be just a number and potentially yo-yo, there’s worse owners. There’s also the trade off that if the short term gamble doesn’t work, he would cut the cloth accordingly and club would be a shell in the championship that’s even worse.
