I think we need to show him, and our other top players, that we're going to be ambitious. A couple of top quality signings, particularly a striker to lessen the load on him, might be enough to persuade him that his future is at Newcastle. At least for another couple of seasons. I'd take that right now in a heartbeat.

He's definitely not coming here. If he was interested he'd have signed by now imo. He's known of our interest for ages and just doesn't seem at all keen. Time to move on and I think the club probably have already.

I'm not being pessimistic but I've supported Newcastle long enough to recognise how things are. It's also why I think players from abroad are a better option.
