He did similar to Man Utd tbf.
  2. I wonder if Napoli would entertain a move for Billy Gilmour.
  3. The agreed consensus was a tire burst. I don't know enough about cars and or driving to say whether that type of situation is definitively caused by speeding. At the risk of opening a can of worms, the lorry drivers are eye witnesses, the cops have access to evidence. It's up to you who you believe.
  4. Spanish police said he was speeding. Two lorry drivers that were there dispute that.
  5. Mind, I just stumbled across a Newcastle fan from Seattle on Reddit saying we've no right to be mad at Isak
  6. Sure... I guess that's sort of the broader issue isn't it? You've spent a billion pounds and the return on that investment in the last ten years has been a few EFL Cups, an FA Cup, and a Europa League. You've not wasted your time, but you're also some ways from a title challenge. Another 300m was added to the pot this year and we're still debating whether a CM or GK is the bigger priority. Your rivals have got way more back for less. Sesko is probably the last generation of player to have conscious memories of the Ferguson era.
  7. Both. Like most clubs, the online presence is the worst representation of the fanbase. They've expected us to hand Isak over like it's an honour to have him play for Liverpool. They also just profess their club to be special with an undertone of 'better than' which is a bit embarrassing. As a club, I think they're pretty obnoxious too. They're so quick to take a moral high ground, but will happily hack into Man City's scouting network and unsettle Isak.
  8. It shifts, but Liverpool are the worst at present.
  9. For those suggesting Xavi Simons where would he fit in the system we play now? I'd argue we're fairly stacked at left wing (Gordon and Barnes) and we don't typically use an attacking midfielder. I like him as a player, I think he does most of his good work in transition which suits us in some ways, less so in others.
  10. In fairness Mr Frog, in recent years the 'Man Utd pull' has been more of a dangerous current dragging talented young players into the abyss of mediocrity.

  12. That's probably a good shout. We need to start doing this and test the water.
  13. Taylor, big fan of your work, but they just sold a mediocre academy defender for 30m. They'd be demanding at least 60m. That's part of the problem, Liverpool (and Chelsea sort of) are the new Man Utd. If they came through Melwood you can add a tax on that regardless of whether they're any good.
  14. Exactly. We all thought we were going down when Eddie took over. I don't subscribe to the idea that we should go the other way and appreciate just being nominated, but the leap this club has made in just Eddie's tenure has been ridiculous. We finished 11th year one, top half since then, two Champions League runs, a trophy. I don't ever want us to lose or struggle, but I acknowledge that when we get better it doesn't remove the concept of resistance or failure, it just alters how that presents itself. Even Anthony Gordon's injury. Ok he's not playing well, but we've got Harvey Barnes and Elanga to step in. I cite five years ago because I remember a day we'd have seen Gordon (or whoever was in his position) go down and be agonizing over whether we had the depth to replace him. Now we do.
  15. How do you top last season though really? I get it, but I think we're going to have to show a bit of perspective here. If you'd asked the fan of five year ago if they'd take this they'd have snapped your hand off.

    Malick Thiaw

Young, athletic, can pass a ball out the back. Hard to be anything but excited about this. I'm sure Eddie is delighted to get a German international to work with.
  17. Don't like these double headers personally. Should be looking to build cohesion with the best 11-16, not giving run outs. But I'm just an idiot on the internet. Trust Eddie's plan. Onwards and upwards.
  18. I think it would be a terrible move personally. He had a good first season, particularly in the league, but last year he regressed for 1 in 3 in the league with a few goals in the Conference League. There's a reason Chelsea went for two forwards this summer and are now binning him off. You're basically buying a slightly younger version of Wissa without the positional versatility. I'm not against the idea of rehabbing players either, we've done it with Sandro, but if he comes here I'd put a crisp five pound note down that he'll be a disappointment. His red card here was another nail in the coffin for me. His attitude seems honking, and even if he's great at pressing, I don't see a proper physical presence in him.
  19. I wouldn't. He's a 1 in 3 forward max.
  20. He simply hasn’t played enough senior football at 22. If you break it down, across his career in all competitions, he’s logged just 2,300 first-team minutes. For context, a full Premier League season is a little over 3,400 minutes, while a full Championship or EFL campaign is more than 4,100 minutes. He came through an EFL academy, so it’s not as if he was being tested at the highest level there—and without consistent senior football, here or elsewhere, his development will stall. That’s why we’ve seen flashes of quality but nothing sustained. I’ve no doubt we’ll get better at this, but if we’re investing £10m in a player, we have to be far more proactive in their development. There are clear positives—he’s quick, rangy, and contributes well in build-up play. But he needs to be in a situation where he’s the focal point in attack and has the chance to score goals regularly. Even a full 90 minutes, like the one he played against Wimbledon, was largely wasted—they sat in a deep, compact shape and gave him no space to work with. The Championship has to be the destination given his age.
  21. Typical capitalist bollocks from Sir Jim. To see Man Utd fans defending the spending is very poor, and unsurprisingly it's often internet fans that lack a substantial connection to the area. Football clubs love crying poor when it suits.
  22. Particularly egregious when you learn they are nicknamed Los Periquitos (the Parakeets).
  23. Targett is finished like. Love that moment for Ramsdale though.
  24. Given he's not even had time to unpack his suitcase from the flight home I'm ok with that. He's quick, direct, and willing to take the right kind of risks. When he's had a bit of coaching I think we can judge him.
