Just wondering about the service on the official website, before I pay out for a year's subscription.

Is it any good? Is it worth being a member? Has anyone had any problems with the financial parts of signing up?

Any help would be appreciated.

I wish I could say different, but I find it pretty average to be honest, and I'm hoping that it's another thing that will improve under the new regime.

Mostly it's made up of brief player interviews (often in broken English ... and not only where foreign players are concerned  :shifty:), complete with somewhat lame and repetitive questions (for instance, "Is it important Oba / Nicky / Shay / Michael etc etc that we bounce back after last weekend's loss?" ... to which you're almost hoping that the players will reply "What the fuck do you reckon, Sherlock?" ... but they never do).

On a positive note though, I find that Big Sam is making more of an effort with his interviews than Roeder and Souness ever did, so I always make a point of watching them. Also, the access to live radio commentary for all first team NUFC games (league and cup) is useful if you can't access such broadcasts through other means (which applies to me, living outside the UK).

Overall then, do I consider the service to be worth the (now modest - it used to be significantly more expensive) cost? Well, I renew my subscription every year, so I guess that the answer for me is "yes" ... or maybe I'm just a masochist  :shifty:

Oh, and in terms of payment, I've had no problems - it just comes out my credit card once a year, and the club sends me a reminder a few weeks before it's due, and then a cheesy email after it's paid welcoming my "re-signing with The Toon".

Hope this helps.

I've done it off and on and I would say that the past few years has been an improvement in the quality and amount of video that they put on the site.

Big Sam seems less rushed in his "exclusive" interviews than Souness and Roeder but to be honest I usually find his appearance irritating so I like to listen without the visuals. From his large 1980s style gold nugget rings to his shirt being unbuttoned always one step too far to the gold chain he invariably has hanging on his chest... I swear he gets his dress sence from cheap east london gangster wannabes and Las Vegas both circa 1980. I would be shocked if Martin Scorsese's "Casino" was not always playing on his DVD player at home.

It's worth it unless the game is on Sky. Depends on how you take to the radio really instead of being at SJP

i got it for 11 or 12 quid a season or two ago and i thought it was great, until they made the service uncompatible with Macs, so it was essentially worthless to me.  But if you've got a pc its good. Commentary, highlights, and all the little extras are nice.

I think it´s very good. I don´t no what you want them to improv.

ofcourse it would be fun to be able to watch the games. and see some pitchures from the traning ground. overall I like it very much.

Its worth it, when the forum is clammering around trying to find links to video and audio streams all you have to do is log into World and you've got the game.

Yep,  I don't pay for the video only the audio streams.

And its well worth it for me. I live in California.

Just thought about that gangster eating pasta while they've got that guys head in a vice. Hilarious!

It's decent like. I like the high-lights and some of the interviews are ok-ish. Mostly signed up for the radio, even though most of our games are on TV, it's nice when they aren't (Everton on Sunday is our first league-game not to be televised)

Crap here in the states but there's something to be said about having the game instead of clamoring for things. When I had it about 3-4 years ago it was horrible quality and support. I can't see how any of that has changed much. If you live in the UK you're spoilt for choice and this is a redundant topic, but here in the states it's DTV (satellite) or Setanta broadband (online).

I use it for the replays of the games and of course the radio streams, when there is nothing else available. I once sent them an e-mail asking irf they were ever going to show live streams of their games and was told by them that the F.A. wouldn't allow it at the moment but they are looking into doing it in the future.
