Allardyce pins blame on Taylor

Damn straight.

"He will be very frustrated at the moment," said Allardyce, "but it's not about me dropping players, it's about players dropping themselves. They played crap at Manchester City. If you play that badly, you're likely to lose your shirt. Players have to realise that one poor performance can cost you your place."

Although Taylor has fallen from favour, Allardyce believes the 21-year-old will learn from the harsh experience, as well as from his new team-mate Claudio Cacapa. "He needs to be able to read the game," Allardyce added. "You can't rely on your physical qualities to get you out of trouble. He's got me and Nigel Pearson here to coach him and we were two ugly bastard centre-halves, so that helps.

"However, the perfect example for Steven to watch would be Claudio. What me and Nigel can show Steven on the training ground, Claudio can do in a match. He's not as quick as Steven, he's not as young as Steven, but his brain puts him in positions that mean he can nip the danger in the bud before the forward has even got there."

Where previous managers would appear blind to obvious failings, Big Sam appears to acknowledge them immediately. Wise words for Taylor, let's hope he heeds them.

Who is that referee?!

do a search on youtube for "gayest ref" and check that bad boy out for yourself!

Cos' he's been dropped before, whereas Taylor hasn't?  PLus dropping a 31 year old wouldn't have the same effect as dropping a 21 year old.

So why didn't he drop Butt. He was the worst player on the pitch IMO.

He means if you play badly you are likely to lose the shirt, not you absolutely definitely will lose the shirt. For a start we had Faye and Cacapa waiting to play centre half, whereas in midfield we've only got Geremi to take over from Butt and so far Sam has showed a preference for having the both of them in there. His decision has been proved correct cos Butt has been tremendous in the last couple of matches, as have Faye and Cacapa.
