"Go on Hazza, be wor Gaffer, i'll even sign *thinks up most random signing ever* to sweeten the deal."

Wonder what Nicky Butt thinks of that after their handbags at White Fart Lane.

Fuck sake.

What?

He's just as comfortable at CB, I think Beye and Faye would be an excellent pairing.

Agreed. One think we've missed for a long while (apart from skill) is pace in our back line. Having Beye and Chimbonda in there would certainly help.

Faye, Taylor, Enrique and Beye is a pretty quick backline tbh!

Taylor and Enrique are hardly quick.

Disagree entirely with that. Taylor not so much, granted (he's certainly not slow), but i think Enrique's definitely got a good turn of pace. Infact i was quite surprised in the Stoke match how comfortable he was with the right-winger - his pace won him through in that game because his distribution was pretty poor.

Although I don't think he is slow I think most would look pacy playing againsy Liam 'mobile phone star' Lawrence

I think he was disgusted at the quality of the pun.

Chief was still in transfer talks

Jan 10 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle

SAM ALLARDYCE was involved in transfer activity right up to the moment he was sacked at St James’s Park.

For Allardyce was looking at trying to bring Spurs’ former Wigan right-back Pascal Chimbonda to the club after the French international had fallen out with new White Hart Lane boss Juande Ramos.

And the Chronicle can reveal that former United boss Glenn Roeder tried to buy keeper Steve Harper yesterday and take him to Carrow Road in a permanent move.

But Roeder got a firm “no” from Allardyce – just like had a couple of days earlier when he asked his successor if he could take Shola Ameobi on loan.

There will be no complaints from United supporters on the decision to retain Harper, but on the other hand there are questions marks against some of Allardyce’s signings for United – and the ones who got away.

For The Chronicle can reveal in the summer when Allardyce was given the £6m he received from West Ham for Kieron Dyer, he was given the choice of spending it on Alan Smith or Elano.

It’s history now that Allardyce opted for Smith – and history that the Brazilian has been a massive hit for Sven-Goran Eriksson at Manchester City.

But to be fair to Allardyce, while Roy Keane was handed an incredible £35m down the road at Sunderland and did not seem to spend it wisely, Allardyce was only allowed a net of £9m by Mike Ashley.

And by the time Allardyce’s scouts identified Rangers and Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as someone who would be a good signing in the summer, the United boss had run out of money.

But now Allardyce has run out of time as well.

So not only did he replace Dyer with Alan Smith, he preferred him over Elano too. mackems.gif :idiot2:
