Dokko
Round wanted by Chelsea & Everton deemed not good enough to offer him a new contract until days before his current one runs out. Mickey mouse club strikes again. I heard that it is he who isn't signing as a promotion to Ass Man at Everton is on the cards. Yes that job offer has been on the table for the last year hasn't it? Did it need that long to figure it out? Everton had it sussed and he didn't even work for them. Protect the club as much as you want, but they've dropped the ball yet again on this one. Protect the club as much as you want, but they've dropped the ball yet again on this one. How do you know they've dropped the ball? I know nothing about him other than that he's a coach, I haven't a clue if he's good or bad and don't know how you would either. It just looks like you've found something else to have a go at the club about. I'm reasonably sure that if Keegan wanted him to be here next season he'd have sorted something out. 1878
There's some more detail on this here: http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/2008/06/28/round-keen-on-everton-switch-64375-21165879/ Chelsea want him in the new set up with Scolari, McClaren wants him at FC Twente, Newcastle want him to stay and we have offered him the assistant manager job. Says we are favourites at the min.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it, i happen to think you are completely wrong and are viewing the club with NUFC rose tinted glasses on brought to you by the new regime. 14 months ago you'd be going mad at something like this, how times change. Chelsea want him, Moyes wants him, England had him, and we let him go for free. Those who want him say enough of his quality for me. Head out of sand time for Mick. I don't think I am viewing the club through rose tinted glasses, I just don't see anything to have a go at the club about regarding Steve Round. I don't usually comment about what happens with our coaching staff other than when we've had more than our fair share of injuries. We’ve had coaches coming and going long before Round arrived and I've rarely if ever commented, 14 months ago would have been no different.

James
According to .com, we actually had an additional one year option on Round, and thought we'd had him tied up. Thus, as it is Round himself that wants out, Everton are going to have to compensate us.
toontownman
With all the old women like panic over not getting any players in, I feel it unfair that the coaches situation gets left behind. As much as everyone does or doesnt like terry mac (mainly due to his lack of coaching abilities) surely this is a situation we will be looking at now Round has left. Personally I wouldnt mind two more coaches, although whilst it should relieve keegan of a little pressure you could say it might take away from his magic working with players. cosmic
New Assistant Fitness Coach - Mark Hulse http://www.sunderlandecho.com/nufc/Keegan-We39ll-be-the-fittest.4270876.jp "....And his players were given a rude awakening on Monday when they reported back, with his staff – including new fitness specialist Mark Hulse – putting them through two tough sessions, setting the tone for the build up to the first pre-season friendly. Newcastle are away to Hartlepool on July 19, giving Keegan and his staff two full weeks to prepare the squad for action. Hulse – who left Crystal Palace last season, and has also worked with England's youth teams – is working with fitness coach Adrian Lamb to boost the fitness of Keegan's men. toontownman
No replacement for Round (more bile from the papers) http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jul/16/newcastleunited.premierleague Keegan, who has told Liverpool and Aston Villa that James Milner is not for sale after all, is working with a reduced coaching staff following Steve Round's move to Everton as David Moyes's assistant but it is believed that Round will not be replaced as Newcastle aim to control costs. Louise Taylor To be fair if Ashley was that concerned Terry Mac and the Tea Lady wouldnt still be here, or are they one and the same these days?
