Tooj
I'd say Ferdinand is easily the best English player at the moment, and definitely in the top three England players over the last ten years or so. If tommorrow, we needed an Earth XI to take on a Mars XI, Ferdinand would be the only player with a chance of making the team. There isn't really that much competition for that accolade tbf. chicago_shearer
There isn't really that much competition for that accolade tbf. I disagree. The present team is terrible, but the France '98 and World Cup '02 squads had some exceptional players in their prime.

Tooj
Shearer's peak was before '98 though. does that matter ? Yes it does as there's arguably been better English players since then. If it was the '92-'97 Shearer then without doubt.

1878
Nigel Martyn was miles better than that overrated ponce Seaman.

Don't rate him at all. Loads of stupid tricks and very little to show for it.

sempuki
Evans and Baptista in The Sun today: KEVIN KEEGAN is ready to get right up Roy Keane’s nose — by making a move for Manchester United’s Jonny Evans. Northern Ireland defender Evans, 19, was a smash hit at Sunderland last season during his second loan spell with the Mackems but has since returned to Old Trafford. Boss Alex Ferguson is an admirer but the teen knows he will struggle to break into the United first team. King Kev will try to tempt Evans to St James’ Park with a lucrative deal to keep him away from Wearside. The Toon are also keeping tabs on former Arsenal strike star Julio Baptista. The Brazilian is not wanted by Real Madrid and has snubbed approaches from Blackburn and Spurs.
