chicago_shearer
Shearer's peak was before '98 though. True. Still wasn't too bad from '98 on though.

madras
Shearer's peak was before '98 though. does that matter ? Yes it does as there's arguably been better English players since then. If it was the '92-'97 Shearer then without doubt. still englands first choice centre forward till 2000 and would have been for another year or two had he not put a stop to it. To be fair he's the only attacking player that regularly turns up for England. Apart from that goal against Sweden I think he's been dross for England personally but there you go. Don't rate him at all. Loads of stupid tricks and very little to show for it.
Guest sondre
I'd say Ferdinand is easily the best English player at the moment, and definitely in the top three England players over the last ten years or so. If tommorrow, we needed an Earth XI to take on a Mars XI, Ferdinand would be the only player with a chance of making the team. Would've been kind of lonely on that team, wouldn't he? sempuki
Evans and Baptista in The Sun today: KEVIN KEEGAN is ready to get right up Roy Keane’s nose — by making a move for Manchester United’s Jonny Evans. Northern Ireland defender Evans, 19, was a smash hit at Sunderland last season during his second loan spell with the Mackems but has since returned to Old Trafford. Boss Alex Ferguson is an admirer but the teen knows he will struggle to break into the United first team. King Kev will try to tempt Evans to St James’ Park with a lucrative deal to keep him away from Wearside. The Toon are also keeping tabs on former Arsenal strike star Julio Baptista. The Brazilian is not wanted by Real Madrid and has snubbed approaches from Blackburn and Spurs.
Tooj
I would fucking absolutely love to buy Evans, just for the reaction of the Mackems. It would be unbelievable.

Guest Heneage
I would f***ing absolutely love to buy Evans, just for the rejection of the Mackems. It would be unbelievable. Would be an ideal signing.
KaKa
I can't help but be intrigued by Baptista. I'm always happy when we are linked with him. I know he had his ups and downs at Arsenal, but I really believe there is a player in there that could thrive in the premiership with a bit of patience and guidance. I wouldn't mind him at all. Interesting.
chicago_shearer
Says a lot for our paucity of left wingers that Joe Cole would get in. very harsh On Joe Cole or England's left-footed talent? Because I did consider including Heskey or Barmby instead of Cole. I rate him, but he's done next to nothing in an England shirt.
Exiled in Texas
Would love to see us interested in Baptista. Would add some great toughness to the team. Would love to see Evans here for two reasons.....first he is a good young player and second, well would be funny as fook to watch the Makems spitting feathers about it.
