toontownman
NUFC coach can't wait for transfer window to shut Jan 9 2009 By Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle Were happy with the squad we have and we want to bring in two or three who can boost the squad. The priority is to keep what we have because we are happy with the quality. At times when we have picked up injuries the strength of the squad has been tested, wed like to come out with more players than we went in with. Its a busy period not just for us, for all clubs. We are seeing what is available. People are working hard to make sure it is done the right way." -------------- Quite an interesting quote that. Is what the majority of fans are hoping for. This window was never supposed to be about selling, we had a piss weak squad to begin with. 3/4 decent additions to the squad would put us back on track. I would be over the moon if we get 4 and no-one leaves. Someone how doubt either will happen.
Syrette
Shame it won't be the case (I imagine).
Unbelievable
Well, that optimism created by Mike's statement about being committed to moving the club forward didn't last long.
ChezGiven
The press will continue to speculate on players leaving as it sells papers and gets muppets clicking on websites. Just because there is stuff in the press about players potentially moving does not mean that the football staff at the club want to sell any players (despite what LT says about Barton etc). toontownman
JFK says on his pre match world interview that the priority is getting players fit, and if we can bring in some loans then that'd be great. In theory thats all he should be doing though, he already said he has given the list of players to Wise and he is doing the rest. I dont think he is really in the loop anyways. joeyt
Paris Saint Germain have emerged as shock contenders to land Manchester City star Nedum Onuoha. The England Under 21 defender is one of a host of City's players being linked with possible moves away from the club during the January transfer window. Onuoha is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs with Newcastle, Blackburn, Wigan and Fulham amongst those understood to be interested. The 22-year-old has been with City all his career after coming through their much famed youth academy. But now City could be ready to let him go with interest mounting. "I can confirm that PSG are looking at Nedum," Peter Morrison, one of his representatives, told skysports.com. "There are a number of Premier League clubs also interested." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_4770542,00.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Might have been posted
Baggio
According to Mido, we tried to buy him in a cash deal and it was Boro who suggested Smith going to other way. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/09/mido-alan-smith-middlesbrough-newcastle

Nedum Onuoha would be a solid addition, not a leap up in improvement but a good squad player with stacks of potential ahead of him. PSG would be a great move for him though, depends how much he fancies uprooting
Baggio
Onuoha's good defensively but he's a donkey with the ball at his feet, like Peter Kay in the John Smith's advert. He can play right back too but he will offer less than Beye or Taylor going forward.
Dokko
Would like to see us go for Pennant. His fee is not going to be massive and i reckon he's a better winger than Duff, and would bring some assets to the right wing we don't have leaving Jonas to go on the left if Zoggy goes. EthiGeordie
Riise is good going forward bad at defending pretty much NUFC kinda player.

Wigan are apparently fav to sign him, prob a replacement for Valencia.

Syrette
He said he didn't want to just sit on their bench. He realised he'd probably not get many starts. Whether that is actually what he genuinely feels, I don't know. He does seem like a player motivated by money as well as other things.

Guest sondre
JAR is fucking gash, would much rather stick with Jose. True dat. An occasional hammer is all he has. Slower and less of a dribbler than Enrique. Cannot believe anybody would have that ginger freckleface over Enrique.
