Newcastle United 2-2 Wigan Athletic 15/11/08 - post-match reaction from page 14

Aye, Duff's main problem is that he actually gives 110% every game. It's why he's in the team every Godforsaken week.

Same as Smith really.

At the end of the day, managers see things at the training ground that we don't, so whilst it's all well and good having a go for playing Duff and not N'Zogbia, I get the impression that N'Zogbia is disinterested and would be the sort to not really try in training, whereas Duff would put lots of effort in.

Hard for a manager to play the disinterested party over the really enthusiastic one.

Surely it's time to revert to a 4-3-3 now anyway, Ameobi won't be dropped (rightly or wrongly), but with both Owen and Martins scoring last night both have to play. Although probably not against Chelsea unless we're planning on taking the game to them, which is very dangerous to say the least.

How did Coloccini play?

Coloccini to me is looking less confident with each game.

Can hardly blame him really, he'll be wishing he stayed at Deportivo.

As for taking of Jonas, he does so much running that it's often impossible to expect him to last the full 90 minutes.

Was the fella who wanted to have chat with Joke Kinnear

A FRUSTRATED Newcastle fan was arrested on his way to the dug-out to confront Magpies’ boss Joe Kinnear.

The incident happened half-way through the second half of United’s lack-lustre performance against Wigan Athletic at St James’s Park on Saturday.

A Toon supporter marched down from the Gallowgate end to make his way onto the track.

Spotted by a ground steward, the fan was reportedly making his way to the dug-out to make his feelings known to the manager.

However, he was detained while police arrived to escort him from the ground.

Although no violence or threatening behaviour was used towards playing staff or United officials, Northumbria Police said the arrest was made as a protection for their safety. Steven Gordon, 30, of Stanton Street, Newcastle, was led away as television cameras covering the game homed in on the trouble.

Chief Supt Neil Mackay who heads Northumbria Police football unit said: "A fan was arrested and charged with making his way onto the playing area."

Gordon who was bailed to appear before Newcastle magistrates on November 27, could face a ground ban.

Wigan went in at half-time with a lead thanks to a Ryan Taylor goal in the third minute.

The arrested fan missed Michael Owen’s equaliser and Obafemi Martins’ effort which put them ahead before former Toon star Titus Bramble snatched a share of the points with a goal in the 89th minute.

Now i might be wrong here, but when was Bramble ever a star? And what is it about him that seems to always result with him and us conceding a goal.

From the footage i saw, and from by the sounds of things, the guy wasn't absolutely irate or violent and hardly charged his way onto the field... so how the fuck did the stewards let him slip and reach the dugout? Fuck Keegan, the club's been falling apart since Nixon left stewarding.
