Pardew just been on Radio Newcastle. News on Carroll isn't good and he's gonna definitely be out of Fulham and probs Arsenal too. He has a tear in an area of his thigh which is taking a long time to heal. He is going to see a specialist in Sweden, on Friday.

Reckon we could do with a new striker in, if I'm honest.

 That's bollocks, like. It's not his thigh anymore. Just thought they'd continue saying nothing until he was due back.

Hope he doesn't end up a permacrock like Woodgate. IIRC , it was this kind of injury that started his problems.

Bit strong.

When i hear thigh muscle tear , i think of Woodgate pulling up at the Leazes chasing the ball Vs Chelsea, his last ever game for us.

Would really like to know, how it was a pull and now it's a tear.  Seems to me more shocking analysis from our medical team.

So from ten days to "possibly back for the derby" to "could be back for Fulham" to "another 3 weeks".

Call me cynical but has the club been playing this injury down as to bypass a hysterical need for a new striker? I wouldn't be surprised that the truth about the injury comes out after Monday.

We are very much struggling for goals and if Carroll is going to be out long term then the club wants an arse kicking for not sorting out cover. Our striking options at the moment aren't good enough and it's costing us points.

I was facetious about it at the time but the speed with which the club denied that Sun story is looking a bit fishy IMO.
