Dinho lad
Just been on SSN; "I felt Newcastle could have dealt with it a little bit better, to be honest," "I spent nearly 12 years of my life there, and that's a long time. I want to thank the fans for the support they've given me over the years. They're absolutely phenomenal. "But this is a new challenge, and a new set of supporters to try and impress. "I'd been there nearly 12 years, and with the service I'd given the club, I felt the regime could have dealt with it a little better. "I was disappointed with the way the regime handled it. "It's a difficult time for Newcastle. They're going through a difficult period, and the fans deserve better. They're extremely loyal supporters up there. "They want the club to be firing up the league, and I wish them well. "The Liverpool game was a real kick in the teeth. It was a low point in my career, and a low point for everyone. "I wasn't very comfortable with the way the club was - I wanted to be challenging for silverware, but I didn't know if I was going to leave the club. "I'll be forever grateful for what (the fans) have done for me in my career, but I felt the regime were very unhelpful." Legend, tbh.

Did he expect Newcastle to lie back and let him go easily after him and his agent went public ? Come on Shay we might be daft but were not that bloody daft. Yeah I think he did expect to be let go easily, and he deserved that as well. He gave nearly 12 years of loyal service and I'm sure would have given many more years if it weren't for Ashley and his cronies. He's an absolute legend and it's just a massive pity that he couldn't stay and get the appearance record.

What a legend - dont blame him for leaving, he was well aware of the damage Ashley and Co are doing to this club. Shay is a Geordie and im sure he will return in some capacity one day (Well providing the fat cunt is finally gone)

He was making that point exactly funnily enough, that he could have been persuaded to stay but the club just wanted the money and didnt even speak to him until the 26th of January. He'd made up his mind and wanted to leave but at no expense to himself. He's angry at the club because he's lost out on his 10% of the transfer fee because they made him hand in his transfer request. That's the only reason the deluded (sorry Citeh a big club? hahaha!) mercenary is angry. Don't feel sorry for him.

Nobody
Fair enough, he wants to challenge for silverware and that, but fucking hell, City are just as likely to win something this year as we are. He could have waited til the summer.
Guest Heneage
I fail to see how City are ambitious by signing Chelsea's reserve left back and Craig Bellamy. Sorry Shay you gave great service, but why you couldn't say a few more months is beyond me. When push came to shove you dropped us all in it.
Dave
I think it's pretty telling that he's sat at a press conference for his new club but more than willing to talk at length about his old one.

He could have waited til the summer. Agree with this. I think that the club would have responded better had he waited until the summer. It would have shown more loyalty to have stayed and fought with us to keep us up. I think the money swayed it to be honest. Had he gone to Arsenal I could have bought his "moving for a chance of success" line, however Man Citeh are no better than we are, as the result at Stoke showed. He has left us cos he knows we are deep in it - he wants to get out while he can and i dont blame him for that.
