Guest Iron_Duk3
I'm kind of 50 -50 but leaning towards believing it. It's the best rumour I've heard so far and it was posted seperately by two independant (as far as I know) Newcastle fans. But if I had to answer your question I would say - Yes. Bowie
I know this is not relevent at all, but did anyone else think Llambias came across very well earlier on SSN? Nar, not really tbh. Just very generic knowledge of him, think my mother would have more to say about him really. "He was just a great guy". Nahh, fuck off Llambias you complete and utter cunt, he died in the process of you ruining this club so you can fuck right off.

B-more Mag
Times reporters been on the site? Newcastle United in last-ditch sales push Jenny Davey and Kate Walsh Newcastle United is being circled by restructuring firms this weekend as billionaire owner Mike Ashley is believed to be offering loans of up to £40m for a buyer to take the Championship football club off his hands before the season begins this month. It is understood restructuring experts have made unsolicited approaches to Ashley in case the sale falls through, but he has refused to talk to them and is instead concentrating on trying to secure a sale. There have been fears in the City that Newcastle could go into administration if the deal collapses. But friends of the tycoon claim administration is the last thing on his mind and are denying the rumours. His advisers are locked in talks with a consortium believed to be from the Middle East. Even so, any deal is expected to fall short of Ashley’s £100m asking price — and payments will be made in stages, with top-ups depending on how well the team performs. Related Links Ashley, who made his fortune with Sports Direct, hired Seymour Pierce to sell the club in May. His involvement with Newcastle has been a complete disaster. He paid £134m for the club two years ago and has since ploughed £110m into it to pay down its debts. He said in May: “It has been catastrophic for everybody.” http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/leisure/article6736303.ece
samag
SOUTH AFRICAN BILLIONAIRE IS TALK OF TOON Sunday August 2,2009 By John Richardson A South African diamond billionaire introduced by former Newcastle United chairman Sir John Hall could be set to lift the Toon’s gloom. Hall, who along with Freddy Shepherd sold out to Mike Ashley two years ago, is frustrated by the club’s relegation from the Premier League and Ashley’s failure to off-load it. Now Hall has utilised his own business contacts and Sunday Express Sport can reveal that he has unearthed a wealthy South African, who owns diamond mines. It’s believed the diamond prospector has expressed an interest in meeting Ashley’s asking price – and that substantial cash would be available for new players. So far every prospective take-over has failed as Ashley digs his heels in over the £100million asking price. He also wants some compensation in order to write off a £100m interest-free loan. Ashley has clawed back £9m from the sale of Oba Martins to Wolfsburg and is set to collect another £2m from Aston Villa for Habib Beye.
macca888
Now this is possibly more accurate than the Dbai coinnection, if there is involvement by SJH. Isnt SJH still honourary life president of the club? Is he still on good terms with Freddie Shepherd, despite FFS having the club sold over his head to Ashley. When you think about it, if they are all fair dinkum for the club, the diamond mine billionaire as major benefactor of the club with both SJH and FFS supplying some back up funding in return for SJH remaining life president and FFS coming in as Managing Director/chairman, appointing Shearer as manager? With the constant rumours all pre season about FFS and Shearer involvement and the fact both have really been quiet in the press, this take over could have legs. Guest Pedro_de_geordieo
Sould it be this guy? nicky-oppenheimer Name: Nicky Oppenheimer & Family Net Worth:$5.0 bil Fortune:inherited Source:De Beers Age:63 Country Of Citizenship:South Africa Residence:Johannesburg Industry:Metals & Mining Education:Christ Church, Oxford U, Bachelor of Arts / Science, Christ Church, Oxford U, Master of Arts Marital Status:married, 1 child Chairman of De Beers, world’s largest diamond producer, which had $5.9 billion in sales last year. Has been through a sea change over past five years: sold off a piece of De Beers’ South African operations to a black-empowerment group, first major ownership change in a century; welcomed its first black executive; and settled a long-standing price-fixing suit that prevented it from opening offices in the U.S. Sold off a third of family’s interest in mining giant Anglo American, founded in 1917 by grandfather Ernest. On behalf of De Beers, Oppenheimer courted Russian President Vladimir Putin in fall of 2006; two months later De Beers and Russia’s state-owned Alrosa diamond mining firm signed joint prospecting deal. With the demand dampening, the company bought fewer stones for resale from Alrosa last year. In December announced that production from its biggest open-pit mines in South Africa and Botswana, which had been running at full capacity, would be reduced until diamond demand recovers. His response to declining markets, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.”

sempuki
Alan Oliver speaks: 2 August 2009 Diamond geezer in for Newcastle EXCLUSIVE Alan Oliver Mike Ashley could have unearthed a gem in his bid to sell Newcastle United - a mystery diamond billionaire. And last night People Sport learned that a new group of Tyneside businessman are also forming a bid. Newcastle fans have grown takeover weary, and were far from amused this week by the revelation that a bid by "Dubai businessman" Sirous Mahjoob was another hoax. Advertisement Click here to find out more! Quantcast But Sir John Hall, who with Freddie Shepherd sold the club to Ashley 16 months ago, has brought a South African diamond billionaire to the table. Ashley is believed to be in Hawaii, but deal fixer Keith Harris is back from holiday to try to broker a deal. The consortium of North East businessmen are trying to stump up the £100 million asking price by looking for 20 clients willing to put up £5m each. Former chairman Shepherd is silent on his own takeover ambitions amid claims he has already made a bid below the asking price. Ashley will not want to sell to Shepherd, but he could end up as the last man standing. Meanwhile, Shepherd has offered to pay for a statue in honour of Bobby Robson at St James' Park.
