Cajun
I have never understood the "good on him, at least someone isn't letting Ashley get away with it" stance. What help does it do? Nothing, frankly. Still important that someone does it, even if its Joey Barton. For every forumboarder who knows everything there is 15 grandma`s out there who might be interested in what Joey has to say. Why does everything have to have an impact for it to be a valid thing to say. No it wont change anything, but its a valid and accurate concern and hopefully it will wind Dekka and Ashley up. Good enough for me. Why is it important that it's said? It's not and he doesn't give two f***s about the "Geordie Nation", he is just bitter he didn't get what he wanted. Cause it puts pressure on the board, as little as it may seem. As far as being a Geordie, I think you are wrong. I think Barton genuinely likes the club and the fans etc, and hes sorry he had to go If he was bothered about the club and fans he wouldn't be having digs about the new players How's that, man? What's to not understand? Are you happy he is having digs at our new players? Joey7Barton Joseph Barton @ @aknufc95 selling their assets and replacing with cheaper gambles. Santon?? 16 games since 2008, in a poor Italian league, hardly proven PL You're a bit precious if you think that's a dig, like. If you don't see that naming a player personally and mocking (incorrectly) their achievements is a dig then, well,I don't know Are you reading the same thing as me? He's pointed out that the lad is a gamble, and doesn't have any PL experience. Whether that's right or wrong (it's right, btw), it's certainly not 'mocking' him. For a start it doesn't need to be said, secondly if that comment was posted on here by someone like KingDawson or Wearside they would have been ripped apart. The fact that is comes from Joey "Ashley Slayer" Barton seems to change the context though. I don't see how people think it's right to comment on other teams players like this
High Five o
Barton is a cool lad. I believe he cares about our club. I respect him. I will applaud him.

eliassenfredrik
Agree, that's pure mocking. He is saying he is not PL-proven, that goes for all new foreigners. Dunno if that is mocking like. Don't know if it's the right term, but he's enhancing himself whilst pointing out Santon as "cheap" and "a gamble" in addition to mocking the Italian league, which is one of the saddest and oldest "arguments" out there. Guest ovesbar
We replaced one of the absolute best left-backs in the league with a Italian youngster who have been stalling the last couple of years and hardly played - at all. Im hopeful he will turn out to be the player everyone makes him out to be, but to say this is something other than a downgrade ( and arguably a massive gamble) would be to deceive yourself. Yes, and everybody knows that Smith is a waste of space, but if a former team mate with 500 000 followers on twitter would tweet it, there is a chance it would be disturbing to the player himself and his teammates. Just an example of course. Anyway Joey Barton owes a lot to this club and even the people running it. If they did what most clubs would have done and sacked him when in prison, how many clubs would have taken the chance and signed him?

Going off on a bit of a straw man tangent there, like. Why is it wrong for one player to comment on another? Is it still wrong if it's positive? If you want an example of one of our players mocking another teams player, have a look at Danny Simpson calling Dzeko 'pony'. Don't remember you going off it about that one. Guest Rainforest
I see nothing wrong with that. A dig from one talented fotballer..... to another.
Cajun
I wasn't happy with Simpson saying that either and I am fairly certain I commented on that. However is it any surprise I would be more pissed off with someone slagging of OUR players? It's unprofessional of Barton and the "straw man" point is, some aren't see it as a dig because of who said it. If Cattermole tweeted it people would go fucking mad, some seem to want to stick their head in the sand about Barton because he has a dig at the board and if someone does that they can't do wrong. Will look forward to seeing how far people will go to defend our former player if he continues to tweet the way he is and starts mentioning our players again. I was talking about the Santon and Cabaye comments but it wouldn't surprise me if Cattermole was given free reign by some if he had a dig about the board, that seems to be the most important thing at the moment
Guest dazzanufc1892
cajun..... the majority on this board love everything negative that happens to the club, we both know this. Most our fans prefers to have a good moan than look on the positives. Its the reason why we will never progress. Christ most of these people probably whinged when bobby finished 5th, just don't get riled by them fella, or else this board becomes insanity
Guest icemanblue
I'll defend him whenever I see a precious individual taking his comments out of context to suit a personal agenda. That's because I don't believe, against the increasingly popular opinion, that he is the Devil. Just because he's a footballer, and an ex-player, doesn't mean he does not have the right to comment on what he likes. If he takes it too far, then yeah, I'd slate him. But, there's nothing wrong with what he's said up until now.
Guest Rainforest
On the other hand, some people on here seems to be thinking that while Ashley and Dekka are absolute cretins, for what its worth they are OUR cretins, and that seems to be the most important thing at the moment. colinmk
If he was telling lies then I would be pissed off. He isn't. The people running our club are continually taking the piss out of the people who are the club and yet some people don't quite seem to grasp this. The more high profile people to say this in public the better for me.

Teasy
Barton's a tool, thick as mince but likes to pretend he's intelligent. He's consistently wrong in most of the facts he puts out on twitter, which goes back to him being thick as mince. Any idiot can use Wiki and see that Santon has played 51 Serie A games since 2008 (where does he even get 16 games from? ).. That's for Inter and at only 20 years old as well, something that clown doesn't mention. He also doesn't mention that we had no choice but to sell Enrique, since he had no intention of signing a new contract. Santon is clearly a gamble in comparison to Enrique, he might end up worse, but with the quality he's got at such a young age he could also end up better. Guest Rainforest
. He also doesn't mention that we had no choice but to sell Enrique That is something we got ourselves into though, by firing Hughton, selling carroll and being absolute cunts, but thats another discussion entirely. A proper replacement for Enrique would be Cissokho, Santon at RB would give him way more goodwill from the getgo..
