I thought BBCs coverage was hugely annoying. Gabby Logan even said afterwards that they'd been hoping for a a more even game, they genuinely seem disappointed that we'd cruised to victory.

I also noticed that in the first ten minutes, Coloccini was hammered for a few dodgy moments yet everything he did well in the game passed without comment.

And another thing is Jonathon Moore (is that his name?) commenting "Newcastle sacked Bobby Robson to their eternal shame." Absolutely disgraceful comment. I know its a sensitive time as the old fella has died but lets not re-write history. SBR was sacked because things had clearly gone backwards on the pitch and at his age, it was doubtful whether he could craft another side that could break back into the top 4. None of the papers at the time launched a hue and cry, most seemingly agreeing that it was inevitable. Of course the timing was poor and the appointment of Souness had us pining for the SBR days but lets not build the matter into NUFC as the devil incarnate for getting rid of him.

regardless of what you feel about robson' sacking (personally thought it shouldve been the end of that season) it was a bit daft to bring it up that way. it wasnt the fans that sacked him, or even anyone connected with the club anymore.

Blackpool aren't a particularly good side. They were just pumped up for the game and bullied us out of it.

I think they'll surprise a few people. As for bullying us out of it, There's nowt in the rule book about that.

I started doubting Robson when he sold Solano for a cheap price. If we got a choice of Robson and Souness, we all would have picked Robson

I'm certain that it wasn't Robsons decision for Solano to leave.

He sort of made his mind up for him by keep playing Bowyer ahead of him on the right that's for sure...and then replacing him with Ambrose.

There is a ridiculous habit of going gooey and rewriting history after a much loved bloke dies.

As was said above, SBR had lost it long before he was pushed. That utter turd Dyer proved it conclusively in the Boro game to his unending (and deserved) shame. But SBR should never have been sacked. He should have been eased upstairs gracefully with much thanks, and a young up and coming manager brought in

We got neither from Shepherd.

Exactly, it annoys me that the press are now spinning the idea that NUFC committed an almighty sin by sacking Robson.

true, should the same been done towards the FA and england team, and also Barcelona

they both sacked him after having very successful tournament and seasons

not the same thing though

at the end of robson's reign at NUFC, he made a lot of errors

TBF, Barcelona aren't in the second division now

A bit of sense.

SBR's baffling treatment of Solano, as mentioned aboive, was one of the stranger aspects of his final season as manager. Dyer was never consistent and Ambrose was shown to not be up to task, yet often both would be included ahead of Nobby.

Its not really important tbh. Robson was still "moved upstairs", despite winning silverware. Yet Barca, never get mentioned as the panto villains.

tbf, when we sacked him, the club had went 8 league games without a win

that wasn't good form tbh, would get a number of managers the sack

the reason we're in situation we are in now, is ultimely his successor, if we had picked Hitzfeld for example, then god know's where we would be now

i'd be over the fucking moon if we ever manage to get another manager who 'loses it' enough to get us 5th in the premiership. 'lost it' in that sense is very relative. yes, we werent as good as a season or two before, and there were one or disciplinary problems, but overall, had shepherd backed him properly, he would've done a good job for his remaining season.

I do often wonder what would have happened if Shepherd kept faith in Bobby and he stayed until the end of the season...

I still think we'd have struggled, not as much as under Souness, but I reckon around about 10th.
