Skirge
Don't know why I am posting this, I just know it will turn into yet another Dyer knocking thread. I know what its like to lose sight though, he is a very lucky lad indeed. Kieron reveals agony Nov 13 2006 By Alan Oliver, The Evening Chronicle. Kieron Dyer has revealed he feared he had lost his sight after suffering a freak training ground injury at the end of last month. And although he made yet another comeback by injecting some life into a lethargic Newcastle United in their drab goalless draw at the City of Manchester Stadium he admits his sight is still not 100%. Dyer spoke about the freak training ground accident when he ran into a pole the day before the 0-0 draw with Charlton, as he thought he was finally nearing the end of his nightmare after a long battle with hamstring injuries. However, in an exclusive interview with The Chronicle, the 27-year-old England international revealed: "I thought I'd lost the sight in one eye. My sight completely went. "And when I looked at the doctor's face, and he didn't want to say how bad it was, I realised it was bad. By the time we got to the hospital to see the specialist, my sight still hadn't come back. "But after we waited, it slowly came back, and after they did the tests they said there was a lot of trauma to the eye, but I should get my eyesight back. "It's still not 100%, but I was given the OK to play after two weeks. "If you look at what happened to the manager and his brain tumour, you realise just how fortunate you are. I'm not going to get down over an eye injury, because it could be a lot worse." Dyer is still a yard off the pace after his latest lay-off but his ability to run at opposing defenders nearly swung Saturday's game United's way as they suddenly came to life in the last 15 minutes thanks to his efforts. He added: "It's disappointing as even though Man City were the better team overall, for the last 15 minutes we came on strong and could have nicked the result. "Overall, though, we've got to be happy enough with the draw, as they were the better team. "And we can take a lot of positives as we haven't conceded a goal. We hung in there, and Steven Taylor deserves a special mention. He's had a difficult season, but he was his old self and Steve Harper was superb in goal. "They were hanging on at the end. "The gaffer was bold with his substitutions. He said at half-time that if we could hang in there, we had a chance and he threw on three attacking players." Dyer must now wait to see if he is included in United's starting line-up for Saturday's game with Arsenal in their first visit to the Emirates Stadium. However, he says: "To be honest, I was a bit disappointed I was only on the bench against Manchester City. But the manager has that approach, even though he's under a lot of pressure. "He was at West Ham when he had the likes of Paulo Di Canio and Frederic Kanoute injured. He never rushes players back. "You're frustrated, but you've got to take your hat off as he never takes chances with his players and you've got to the thankful for that."

Colos Short and Curlies
I got kicked in the head playing in goal, fractured an eye socket and was told the blow missed my actual eye by a matter of millimeters. Shit me up a bit, its a very delicate part of the body and so easy to damage

I bet Kieron let out an evil laugh at the stockpile of dead babies in his garage too. Or whatever.

OzzieMandias
I can't see properly out of my right eye. Just a great big blur. Something I was born with. No big problem really, but... One night, years ago, I was walking down the street and someone shot at me with an air gun from the top deck of a passing bus. The pellet hit me on the left side of the bridge of my nose. Nothing serious, just a small wound that bled for a while and healed up quickly leaving no scar. But it was about half an inch away from effectively rendering me blind. Shook me up good and proper, and I took a while to get over it. While it would have been nice to have been earning more money than I was back then, I don't supposed a larger wage packet would have meant the slightest difference to how I felt – let alone how I would have felt if the guy's aim had been slightly different. Guest
Would have summed the lad up that after all the long-term injuries he's had, his career was forced to end because of a freak eye injury.
Guest donige
Would have summed the lad up that after all the long-term injuries he's had, his career was forced to end because of a freak eye injury. yes i suppose but also he has been a complete idiot and taken advantage of his status. i dont think he's a bad person he is just always drawn into things as we have seen with his troubles like when he was reported for indecent exposure and when he was linked along with titus to the infamous rape case. unfortunately he is a footballer who does not think as a professional 24 hours a day and he has been caught out due to this i do think his skill is unbelievable and his speed is quality and he has been very unfortunate with injury and last season when he returned he looked a fantastic player giving 110% so lets hope he can return this time and do it for the team and help us get out of this horrible run we find ourselves in.
