The Prophet
What has everyone made of his transfer buisness so far? Seems very good at identifying the positions we need to strengthen which past mangers haven't done. Williamson and Routledge look to be excellent buys, the likes of Simpson and Best perhaps not so much. It's not like we've splashed out mega bucks on them like but overall I think he's done alright. Guest firetotheworks
WTF, they have a 5 man panel deciding who deserves this pointless award. What a waste of time and effort. Blatantly a phone call/email. 'Alex, it's me..' 'Newcastle' 'OK, See you later.'
afar
I'll be more than happy if Ben Arfa is confirmed and Taylor signs a new deal. Very good work by both owner and manager.
Guest neesy111
Williamson, Routledge = Very Good Business Campbell, Perch, Gosling, Tiote = Jury is out until they all play at least 10 games Simpson = Was needed in championship, but not good enough at premiership level Leon Best = Panic signing after the crap of Moses and Beckford
David28
Sir Alex Ferguson is on that panel? "Well personally I think Manchester United did a fantastic job in their 2-2 draw with Fulham..."
The Prophet
Thought the Van Aanholt and Hall were decent cover too, particularly the former who I'd have back here in a heart beat. Khiz was shocking.

He wasn't shocking. He just played in the matches we had to play with the likes of Geremi, Butt, Smith and Harewood and also with Kadar at the back. Put him in the side that played everyone out of SJP after January and he would have looked a lot better player.

Thought he looked slow and off the space, he did have to play centre back with Simpson but they were probably as bad each other.
JH
Think our transfer dealing since January has been quite decent, Best aside (although I can understand the reasoning behind buying him, even if it didn't quite work that way). HBA and a striker in the mould of Keane on loan, and I'll be quietly confident.
David28
I wouldn't write Simpson off yet. He played through the pain for some time last season.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Aye, I don't think Simpsons half as bad as some post.
The Prophet
He was alright while at first but he got into a crappy habit of constantly backing off. Maynard's goal while quality was an example of this at Ashton Gate.

Maynard's goal while quality was an example of this at Ashton Gate. As I've said. He played with an injury. I don't know how bad it was for him, but I think it could have had something to do with his bad form at that time.
Guest firetotheworks
Simpson isn't helped by the fact that the player he replaced was the best right back we've had in years, and that the player on the other side of the pitch is probably our best. Oh aye, and that he's absolutely fucking shit at defending.
Guest neesy111
He just isn't a premiership quality defender imo

80
All things considered I'd say I'm very content with his recruitment efforts. Not perfect but which clubs' are? i like the reasoning behind probably all the transfers that I can think of.Sometimes things don't work out, other times they go unexpectedly well, c'est la vie - the aim is to maximise your chances of success. The only thing I'd be fascinated to know is exactly how or scouting and negotiating works. If I found out wise was still involved in some way or other I wouldn't be all that surprised in all honesty (or jeff vetere - I'd probably be pleased to hear that actually as I'm under the impression he was alright, a cockney lamb that shouldn't have been sacrificed). That said most indications seem to suggest hughton has a hefty say in things, at least with regards assessing priority squad areas and to a lesser extent identifying particular players. Most refreshing of all he understands how he wants his team to work and hasn't been daunted at any point with regard to fianancial constraints and a million other challenges at the club. Guest
Whatever happens now, Hughton will live or die by his choices. The players who didn't want to be here left last year, the ones who were up for the battle stayed. He's made his own signings with more cash than he probably anticipated, and basically, this is Hughton's team. Think he's going to be a good, solid Premier League manager in his own right now and think he'll leave us in a much more stable position than this club has been in for 7-8 years.
