Imo it was him trying to slow down and get another touch on the ball, but he was moving too fast, and with the slight contact, stumbled and fell. At least the other team are in the game and there's mistakes to get angry about. Spain just kill the game in possession but don't do anything with it. It's great up until the final thrid then it always ends in a hopeful cross or over ambitious through ball.
