No use him being there. We try to direct the play through him when they dont bother to attempt any real creativity and it generally fails. His best skill is making it look like hes been pushed over by someone half his size constantly.

 

People seem to think he did well yesterday because he linked the play, he linked the play because the defenders are more interested in being tight to Rooney. Rooney was having to drop into midfield just to recieve the ball. Seems obvious, Heskey is not enough of a danger to be in our side.

 

It was just one of a few things that hampered us badly yesterday.

For the record I've not said Heskey should keep his place, I was merely pointing out that he's been the best player so far, regardless of the formation, tactics etc. There's no getting away from that, and anyone who says otherwise is either biased or stupid.

He wasn't England's best player by a country mile in the second game though.  He was a complete laughing stock who fucked up royally every time he got the ball.

 

Fair enough there wasn't any England players who actually played well, but unlike the others, this is normal form for Heskey.

Find it strange Heskey is getting so much blame, he's put in two typical Heskey performances. It's the under performing players like Lampard and Rooney who should be taking the flack.

I don't see why we use Heskey.  His goal threat is next to nothing and he generally will win a few headers and lay it off.  To be honest Crouch is fine at controlling high balls with his chest and then laying them off, plus he actually can score goals and play well with the ball at his feet.

I dont like crouch played as a striker, as it lures our idiot players into using hin as a target man, however....

He can be quite good at linking play between midfield and the real strikers (rooney/defoe).  crouch should never be used as an out and out striker.

Lampard and Gerrard have both scored double the amount of goals for England than Heskey has you fucking clown.
