Jayson
Scored less than John Terry over both their last 40 caps for England. 3 more assists. You have to wonder.
Mr. Snrub
Wonder if the clowns who kept spouting that nonsense about Heskey making Rooney play better/being his best strike partner are still of that opinion post WC.
TaylorJ_01
Wonder if the clowns who kept spouting that nonsense about Heskey making Rooney play better/being his best strike partner are still of that opinion post WC. Hopefully Capello isn't.
Dokko
http://www.skysports.com/football/world-cup-2010/story/0,27032,12098_6267203,00.html Capello reveals England ratings Three Lions coach unimpressed by Green, but pleased with Defoe Fabio Capello's controversial 'Capello Index' ratings of England's World Cup performances have been published. The Italian coach caused uproar prior to this summer's showpiece in South Africa when it emerged that he intended to rate the showings of his players after each game, and make his thoughts public knowledge. He was eventually persuaded by the Football Association to shelve that idea, as it was decided that scores should not be handed out until the tournament was over. That time has now come and, with England having fared dismally on the world stage, the results have been eagerly anticipated. The ratings, which are used in a fantasy league game, make for intriguing reading, with Capello's take on events in South Africa raising a few eyebrows. Wrath Unsurprisingly, Robert Green's horror show in England's opener against the United States, in which he let a tame Clint Dempsey shot slip through his grasp, sees him finish bottom of the pile when it comes to the Three Lions. Joe Cole and Gareth Barry also failed to impress, while Wayne Rooney's average score over the course of the four games he played was topped by the much-maligned Emile Heskey. Of those at the opposite end of the scale, Jermain Defore takes the spoils as England's most effective performer, while Shaun Wright-Phillips and national skipper Steven Gerrard also deemed to have done well. It is, however, worth pointing out that Defoe's average score of 62.47 still falls some way short of the 65.77 awarded to Uruguay's talismanic frontman Diego Forlan, the man rated as the best player at the tournament by Capello. Average marks awarded to England's players during the World Cup: Robert Green - 51.67 David James - 59.28 Glen Johnson - 57.18 John Terry - 60.48 Ledley King - 57.50 Jamie Carragher - 59.04 Matthew Upson - 60.21 Ashley Cole - 59.58 Aaron Lennon - 57.64 Frank Lampard - 58.58 Steven Gerrard - 60.98 James Milner - 59.40 Gareth Barry - 57.50 Shaun Wright-Phillips - 61.09 Joe Cole - 55.45 Wayne Rooney - 58.87 Emile Heskey - 60.15 Jermain Defoe - 62.47 Peter Crouch did not play enough minutes to generate a mark. Village Idiot
So, hum, I open this Capello Index site and the first thing I see is they have Forlán as being a Spanish national and not having scored in his last game.
Foluwashola
Just as Green might be getting over the World Cup, BAM, Capello reminds you that you were shite.
Guest firetotheworks
It's got to sting when you were clearly one of England's best players, and obviously England's best winger, and the manager thinks Shaun Wright fucking Phillips was better than you. Guest GallowgateKev
Lets just start searching allover europe and the world for players that arent english but have granparents and all that malarky which will qual them to be england players... Afterall thats what the germans have done! I think the F.A. has a rule that doesn't allow us to do that. Either way, facepalm. Facepalm? Gimp...
