Realistic Transfer Targets January 2011

Recommended Posts

As this is the realistic transfer thread I think we should be realistic and accept we will not be making any signings this window.

I think Pardew knows it too, he is not distanced from Owner & Chairman, if he believes he is going to get new faces in then I wonder how long before Pards walks too.

I hope that Pardew would have known exactly what the situation was before he took the job. I think it's highly unlikely he would resign over lack of signings.

So more of a case of Perds just playing the game, knowing dam well he aint getting anyone in this window. Just never thought of him as a puppet manager.

I don't think he's a 'puppet manager', I just think the club has placed quite tight restrictions on how much can be spent on players, and it is difficult to get good players under those conditions.

No doubt the club is working hard to get players on their terms, signings are always pretty difficult in January anyway.

Oh I agree its not as easy window to get player in but I also think the money issue means for us its even harder, tight wage conditions as well as tight transfer fee's.

Maybe Pards thought once he was in he could change their minds, I guess time will tell.

Wenger would prefer Vela goes to a Prem League club though he prefers La Liga....

Carlos Vela on loan would be a cracking coup but doubt it will be us in the hunt for him. Wilshere done well on loan at Bolton so wouldn't suprise me if Arsenal just sent him their in the the hands of Coyle who admires Vela. Won't be long before he's sold off to a Spanish club anyways because it doesn't seem like he's going to be breaking into Arsenal's team. How Bendtner gets picked before him is beyond me!

What's with this cover for Smith?

Firstly he's injured, not leaving the club (sadly), when do club's buy players to replace an injured substitute?

and for the record neither O'Hara or Ireland would count as cover for a defensive midfielder... sorry a shit defensive midfielder.

Shouldn't bee too expensive.

"Tranmere boss Les Parry mentioned this week that his club wouldn’t be bullied into accepting a “silly money” offer" of £300,000 for the player.

350 k then?

Jennings is supposed to have spent time at Finch Farm last week. Been a fair bit of talk about us signing him.

Looks a good prospect... allegedly a bit of a jack the lad, mind you.

O`Hara? esp if the Ireland deal falls through...cover for Smith too.

Would be a really good move IMO. Sensible too.

His Twitter:

'The game was against charlton, quite a few first team lads played, score was 4-1 i think, just needed to get another game under my belt, not sure weather ill be in squad, need to go on loan to get some games missed too much already this season so wanna be playing every week '

Said before that I would take a chance on O'Hara if he's available for a decent price or loan. He has energy and drive in midfield, would be a good option for us.

This from Spanish pundit Guillem Balague: "Newcastle were thinking of signing Jose Angel from Sporting Gijon - a left-back who is only 21 and would be a replacement for Jose Enrique. He`d be a great replacement as well."

Never heard of him.

Remember Man City sniffing around him and the sum of 15£ million coming up.

Won't be around much today tweeps. But been told one of the north east clubs is ready splash some big cash today...

14 mins ago:

Hey North East tweeps, that deal I was talking about looks to have collapsed late on, in the mean time Sunderland are closing on Muntari.

Can't be us when it's about a big money signing?
