He plays far too deep for Argentina, just like a normal centre midfielder. Fair play to Bolivia though, defended narrow and in numbers which made it difficult for Argentina, thoroughly deserved their point.

Messi had several good runs in the first half, and could easily have had a couple of assists. Not his fault the finishing was poor. Agree with Ginola14 as well, he's far too deep to be really effective.

EDIT: Didn't see the second half as I went to bed after the first.

And that's why you don't compare Messi to Pele...

http://pele.m-qp-m.us/english/pele_statistics.shtml

Look at this file. It also includes some international games inwhich Pelé failed to score!!!

Guess in those select games you couldn't compare him to Messi.

Wasn't being really serious about 'that's why' part. However, you can't compare Messi to Pele, and you never will.

Vickery was saying some good stuff about Pele on the Hand of Pod t'other day about him missing out on World Cup 74 to protect his global image as he wasn't upto it as much anymore. It's pretty weird how Pele and Maradona are such polar opposites in more or less every way but are rightfully regarded as the best 2 ever.

Brazil v Venezuela today. Should be a decent watch.

If this was a baseball game... :bluestar:

 After the Argentina game, anything goes.

It would be an awful baseball game.

I don't think there is a sport where Brazil v Venezuela sets the hearts of neutrals a flutter.

Handball? Jai Alai, again?

Venezuela have a couple of players I like.

Rondon obviously, but their #10 Orozco looks an exciting player. Shame they can't get Jeffren and Amorebieta on board as they'd start to have a reasonable side.
