Yorkie
Defensive continuity is crucial to surviving in this division, but we're due a re-shuffle here. Say what you like about Taylor, he - along with Sol and Nolan - is our most experienced player when it comes to the PL. We're conceding far too many soft goals at the moment, and i'd like to see what this pair are like behind Tiote and SuperKevTM.
quayside
Saylor ahead of Sol for me. He needs more match fitness and is someone who will be with us a lot longer than Sol. I wouldn't bet on that tbh. Even if we do plan to sell him, get him in there and hope that he does well. Will get us more for him...which Ashley will then not reinvest in the club. But still... I have a theory that Ashley will feel that he has already invested the Saylor money on the squad. Saylor couldn't be sold in the summer window because he was injured but he will be unloaded in January to balance the transfer books. No capital outlay. JCONA
Lets be honest, campbell was only ever going to be emergency cover. I think it will be Saylor, or both obv if williamson gets the ban Chris obviously knows sols way past his best or he'd always have him in the first XI. Was gutted when we didnt get him a few seasons ago and he went to pompy. Always been a massive fan of sulzeer

I really think that no capital outlay means no money injected by Ashley for transfers. I don't think it means that the club always has to make a profit on transfer dealings. I must have phrased it badly because I mean pretty much what you say. I wasn't thinking that profits on transfers were intended either but more like a simple money in = money out policy. I have a feeling that, in this case though, the situation dictated that Ashley invested sale proceeds before they were received so in effect the transfer pot is "in the red" and needs to be topped up with the sale of a player to balance it. AyeDubbleYoo
I see what you mean, I guess I'm thinking that deficits from transfers can be compensated for by revenue elsewhere - e.g. TV and gate receipts. I don't think we necessarily need to sell before we buy, not literally. We've already shown we're ready to spend a little bit of money if bargains are available. EthiGeordie
We should have been playin Sol with Colo whenever Sol is fit... But now Colo is suspended we have to do Sol and Taylor..... We need experiance backroom staff to make this desicion a perfect one....
Cajun
Not really, I've been saying he should be dropped for weeks. Fair play for sticking to your guns, but straight out calling you a jerk felt classless.... Seriously, if you want him banned you can't have ever seen the reserves play. Scary. I want him banned so Taylor and Campbell come in. Jesus titty fucking wept! Football must be fairly straight forward at special school. No chance either could get injured with all the match fitness they have between them. No worries though, would be interesting to see Perch and Kadar partnering each other if the worst happened. Fuck me. It's quite sad that I could see that happening with their two fitness records. Colo, Willi, Sol and Saylor as our central defence choices. And the thought we could end up with Kadar and Perch The horror.

junkhead
Result. Look forward to seeing these two together. yeah, we're playing at Stamford Bridge with two slow, unfit defenders who have never played together.. can't wait!

Stottie
The ol' indiscipline cloud may have a silver lining. I hope they're both sufficiently fit. Working with Sol could be Taylor's last chance to improve and justify some of the hype when he was younger. He'll definitely get no change out of the big man if he shouts and points at him after effing up himself. They'll also have Tiote as cover. Whoever plays right midfield is going to have to cover Cashley. Its probably only Routledge that has a hope of keeping up with him.
Colocho
Routledge may have the pace over a short distance, but Cole's stamina is far superior. Cole and Malouda are really going to cause us problems on that side. No point playing Guthrie - as much as I can't stand the man, it may be worth giving Perchy a go in defensive right-midfield role. See just how much of a utility player he is.

Colocho
Trust me, I feel the same. Who else, relatively defensive minded have we got to play there?

steve_69
Trust me, I feel the same. Who else, relatively defensive minded have we got to play there? I think we need to do everything we can to keep Smith and Perch out of the starting line-up. They don't just offer nothing, they actually hinder the team because they give away possession and freekicks and other players have to try and mop up their mistakes. I'd far rather see us promote some of the reserves to the team - let's be honest, they couldn't fair any worse than Smith, Perch or Guthrie. Alternatively let's just stick out an attacking line-up and have a go - basically anything just to keep that pair of cloggers out of the team. Colocho
I wish I could share your optimism, but playing a Chelsea side with something to prove and bearing our inconsistent home form in mind, I would rather we take a conservative approach to this game. Who would you play on the right?

Who would you play on the right? Routledge. He hasn't looked too good this season but like one of the other posters has pointed out, he played most of his games in front of Perch. He's a ride-sided player with pace and I think he should be given a chance in front of Simpson. Routledge.....Tiote.....Nolan.....Jonas

Canuck
This is a nightmare. Sol Campbell - who set the world alight at Notts County to earn a call by Arsenal where he covered for their injured first choice CB's. Featured in a 3-1 loss at Stoke in the FA cup and then was part of a 2W-3L-2D run to end the season. All of this with international calibre players around him. Oooohhhh - can't wait.
