Mistle17
I know we've proved we're capable of replacing players adequately, but I see no need to break up the spine of our team, we should be looking to add to it/build around it. But then again if as ridiculous money offer comes in then I guess it must be considered. Can't see Chelsea throwing money about this summer, so only Man City realistically can I see making huge offers.
Ronaldo
I think its a given that Tiote and Ba will leave in the summer. Certainly Tiote. Nervous about Ba though. I still don't know who'd pay the required sum for Tiote. Chelsea or Liverpool at a push, but I'd still be very surprised.
Mr. Snrub
Liverpool won't, they don't need him. Lucas will be back from injury.
Tiresias
Can see both Chelsea and Man U wanting him, not sure either will have the cash lying around though. I think we could keep hold of him, but dunno if he wants to go...

Ronaldo
There on course for over 90 points without playing a defensive midfielder. No reason to change that, especially not for Cheick Tiote.
Guest andrew
Yeah, best not to buy a quality ball winning mid, especially with them brimming with options. Let's not forget Carrick, Giggs and Scholes with their combined pace of a pea
Mr. Snrub
Man Utd definitely need a good DM imo. Getting constantly outplayed in Europe proved that.

ponsaelius
Man Utd definitely need a good DM imo. Getting constantly outplayed in Europe proved that. More to do with the general quality in midfield than having a designated defensive midfielder. They've got on just fine without a defensive midfielder for years. Guest andrew
Still think that they need someone like him for the big games and a different option to their slow but technical types. I haven't been convinced by their actual performances this year.

Fletcher was doing a great job until he couldn't stop shitting himself. Giggs and Scholes can't last 90 minutes and Carrick is the invisible man. Guest andrew
Yep. Giggs and scholes are decrepid and won't last that much longer. Fletcher is oot and they've had some poor games this year where their midfield has struggled to dominate

Nah, man. 3 Champions League finals from the previous 4 seasons is crap. THEY NEED TIOTE! I still think they need strengthening there considering there's been times this season they've gone with Park and Giggs as a central midfield pair. It's a blackhole considering the level they're competing at. To say they specifically need a holding midfielder is daft though.
Tiresias
Second season of Man U getting the job done without being impressive. Look at their teams in the seasons they lost to Arsenal or Mourinho's Chelsea and it rather shows there has been a dropping off in quality of the competition. Mancini needs to go if City do fail to win the season, hasn't anything left to hide behind. Anyhoot rather besides the point. Reckon united could rather do need a new midfield, and their eyes are less on cup than on the champions league. Ferguson has said as much, that they can't compete in europe with what they have. Tiote I don't know if he was sure there was a rumour they were sniffing around. Chelsea main threat, but they can't offer reliable champions league footy neccessarily anymore... Mr. Snrub
Think if they do go after a holding midfielder Javi Martinez would definitely be top of their list anyway, they wouldn't spend £20m on Tiote.

Mr. Snrub
You didn't? Sorry. I just thought you'd implied in that sentence. He was operating as a box to box midfielder though, so it's not like he wasn't doing some defensive work.

Why would they target a holding midfielder though? They've never, ever played with a holding midfielder. Martinez would be a great signing for them (and anybody) because he's a fantastic passer, technically accomplished and strong physically. They wouldn't sign him because they specifically want a defensive midfielder, they'd sign him because he's a good footballer. I actually agree with you that the midfield has cost them in Europe this season, but I don't know why you keep mentioning that buzz word. Fergie has always played 2 central midfielders that can do a job both ways.
