Conjo
Imagine in a world where no transfers of players from one club to another existed: Which teams would be the best in England today then? In a way, I feel bad for clubs like Southampton, who could arguably be a potentially solid premier league team if they didn't have to sell players like Walcott, Bale and now maybe that Chamberlain kid. Other teams, such as West-Ham would still have players like Lampard, J.Cole, Defoe, Carrick, Ferdinand, G.Johnson etc. Don't know why, but this topic always intrigues me. So out of all currently active players, what teams would be fighting in the top of the league today if the players never were transfered? P.S Carrick is not eligble for Newcastle, as we got rid of him and came through West-Hams academy. P.P.S Use the players current ability, not past or potential when arguing. Disco
Do foreigners bought at a young age but still played for youth teams count? If so, Arsenal.

Conjo
No. If the foreign kid quit his local team because he and his family moved to England for some reason and he then joined an English team, that would be ok
Guest pont-toon
could get bizarre this as the big bucks would be thrown at buying the youngins, need to define "home grown "
Conjo
Players who joined a youth academy, and came through the ranks of one team. No transfers at all is allowed. Ben Tozer, Aaron Spear etc is not eligble for Newcastle as we paid money to get them from another team.

Conjo
Steve Harper, Steven Taylor and Andy Carroll are at least certs in our team. Started thinking about present CB's who could partner Taylor. Is there no one else besides Caldwell brothers and Paul fucking Huntington?
