gbandit
What are West Ham's reasons behind wanting it anyway? Upton Park is hardly tiny. One West Ham fan I've heard talking about it seemed to think that if they got it they would quickly rise to the top and challenge the best because of how huge they would suddenly become. The same bloke was also saying that most of the other clubs in England request not to play on the same day as West Ham because they're so huge already mind so I think we can move that to one side. Sounds like he's been infected by the Sam A-Virus
Martin Lol
Sorry, I meant would it matter if Orient got the stadium and didn't fill it. For me, it just wouldn't look right - after having a (hopefully) successful Olympics next year, I would be disappointed to see it in the hands of a club of Orient's stature. The "legacy" being Leyton Orient playing there just wouldn't sit right with me There has been talk about a Rugby Union side using it and AEG (Spurs' would be partners) are still interested using it for concerts etc. I think it would get used more with Orient on board than Wham tbh. AyeDubbleYoo
If I was an owner of one of the swanky flats at the corner of Leyton Orient's ground I wouldn't be happy about them moving!

Which Rugby Union side are you talking about? Saracens I see. I can accept them having it, they're a pretty big rugby club. Orient however, nah. jdckelly
What are West Ham's reasons behind wanting it anyway? Upton Park is hardly tiny. simple really, rent the stadium for a relative pittance, sell Upton Park for housing or whatever the Porn Barons pocket a shit load of money which West Ham as a club will never see Don't think either of them have considered any implications for it beyond that

Hangover from past owners and a reason why the porn brothers got the club for so little.
Martin Lol
Not directly related to the Olympic Stadium but being said that Levy has finalised deals with Government/Boris Johnson/Haringey council. No idea what the extra money/incentives have been given but Levy is said to be delighted. Plans are reverting back to 60k seater (the last plans were for 56k) retaining the "Kop" end, more housing and some University/Tech becoming tenants of what could have been a problem area of the development. http://i51.tinypic.com/2qwfrwl.jpg If that's how it turns out the wait and the gesturing over the Olympic Stadium would have been worthwhile. Official announcements expected with 3/4 weeks.

Aye, West Ham are like a Monopoly player who's already turned all their cards to 'mortgaged'... nothing good comes of it in the end.

Matt
Of course it looks great, the computer mockups always do. Not sure I'd like to be sat at the edges of that single tier with a massive wall on one side of you.
Ishmael
That's just Arsenal's stadium painted blue with a couple of tiers cut out at one end?

AyeDubbleYoo
Not as nice as the Emirates IMO, the end stand interrupts the flow of the design too much. Probably would have a better atmosphere though, obviously.

Guest kingdawson
Oh btw those are all links from 09 that show just the outside of the stadium (the first set of images that were released). We're talking about the picture of the inside of the stadium MJ posted up. Nice try though.
Ishmael
You're trying really hard now, but I don't quiet understand why? Does it really matter that your proposed stadium looks similar to every other new stadium or stadium plan that is popping up? Emirates, the stadium emirates looks like from Portugal, the Liverpool plans... Must do I guess, heh.
Guest kingdawson
Tbh you're the one "trying hard" as you somehow thought that putting up links from articles from 09 that only show the outside of the stadium somehow proves that the inside of the stadium looks like the Emirates. Outside of stadium = Yes similarities for sure. Inside of stadium = so many differences and nothing alike.
Ishmael
"Nothing alike" is pretty funny. Just think you're on a try-hard troll now, sorry.
