BeloEmre
He made some very good saves though Only one (first half) was anything out of the ordinary. He has to go. He had to great saves. Arteta's shot in the first half and Beckford's shot in the second half. I do agree that his kicking was awful though.
JH
I'm amazed at how some people think. How can you come out of that game thinking "Harper has to go"? Sure he's not the best but today highlighted much greater problems.
Guest toonlass
Harper 4? Seriously? I thought his kicking and distribution was typically dreadful. Really need to see this pedestrian replaced next season. I have to admit that the poncing around when taking goal kicks is just stupid. When we're 2-1 down time-wasting is not a good idea. Not as bad as Nolan deciding to stroll casually towards the Everton box with the ball in the 94th minute You'd think we were 4-0 up.

Sure he's not the best but today highlighted much greater problems. To be fair, I've never really rated him. In recent terms though against Bolton and Everton, his distrubution, command of his box and shot stopping have all been desperate. A good servant but its painfully obvious that he now needs to step down in the summer otherwise we run the risk of losing two young keepers who are potentially a lot better. Interpolic
Did anybody hear the first song played at half time, I'm sure it was Hindu. Yep, I had a stream on and the stadium announcer definitely said they were playing a song by RJ Thompson called A Better Life.

Howay man Mick, its painfully obvious that he's shocking when it comes to kicking and distribution. Look at someone like Barthez who was prone to the odd rick but whose distribution was world class. ponsaelius
Anybody who sits near me probably gets sick of me lambasting Harper's kicking. I scream like a maniac at every single one he fucks up.
Guest Nikos34
I was encouraged when I saw our team and the formation Pardew decided to play because I am a big fan of the wing back approach. However, Simpson and Jose didn't push on and get involved enough for the system to work effectively. Also, Jonas still seemed to hug the left touchline when really we needed a central midfield 3. Ferguson should have replaced Jose straight away and we should have stuck with that setup. Jose probably wasn't right from the start and perhaps explains why he didn't bomb on. Is somebody going to say now that it was 4-4-2 from the start anyway? And make me look a complete twat. I thought it was hard to tell at times to be honest. Tsunami
Haven't read any other pages - but here's my take on today. You can't play STaylor RB & even less can you play Simpson RW This meant Arteta had far too much space all game Williamson should have cleared the 1st goal Enrique was at fault for the 2nd goal and decided soon after that he wasn't fit - that doesn't excuse the piss poor defending for the goal We miss Barton far more than is healthy for a PL team We are 3 or 4 good players away from being anywhere near strong enough as a squad to compete From this page - Harpers kicking is poor, he did however make 3 or 4 very good saves and their first goal (and for that matter sturrdige's goal last week) were not his fault. Last thing today; Pardew got it horribly wrong - he may have been short on options but those he made invited trouble.

It was 442; Simpson didn't have a clue and STaylor kept drifting infield.
Guest Nikos34
Steven Taylor coming straight back in at right back sums up our wafer thin squad really. A bloke who has hardly kicked a ball for months is thrown back in out of position. Our best 11 is not a bad side at all but anything other than that is underpants. And Taylor would have stayed on the bench.
