AyeDubbleYoo
Not sure Pieters is definitely an upgrade at LB, at least not long term. Depends what you want really, he's a different type of player.

Guest
Pieters would walk in ahead of Haidara & Dummett.

The College Dropout
I'd have Paulie D ahead of him tbh.
Mole_Toonfan
Paulie D ffs I would as well tbh, also i'd trust in Haidara instead of him as well. Didn't obviously know at the time but he's pretty bang average. ( Pieters)
AyeDubbleYoo
I think he was suspected average, then had a better than average spell, then confirmed himself to be average. TBF it's close as our LBs aren't very good either.
Mick
His players are shite or the manager he is rumoured to have chosen is shite, either way, his position should be in question.
Skeletor
Wijnaldum and Mbemba have been ok. Mitrovic still an uknown quantity. Thauvin looks a bit dodgy. Hardly fair. If he chose the manager though, then absolutely.
TRon
His players are shite or the manager he is rumoured to have chosen is shite, either way, his position should be in question. Too many lightweight midfielders who can't get a grip in the engine room. I'd like to put it all down to the manager, but we really could do with some height and presence down the spine of the side. hakka
I don't think Carr's players are bad individually, I just don't think we buy the combinations of ones we need or use them correctly. It's clear to me we are missing strength and size in the middle. We have no engine/dynamo to soak up pressure or control the game. Always on the back foot or hiding. Skeletor
I agree that players are bought without any idea of team cohesion but I put it down to Ashley's penny pinching rather than Carr.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
I've heard all the top European clubs employ just one man as their 'scouting network', like.

If he chose the manager though, then absolutely. Mbemba looks a good player but not the type we needed IMO. Muscled off by that Deeney a couple times. Very comfortable on the ball and seems a good character. Wijnaldum. Scored. Not done much else. Looks to have ability though. Been below par as have the rest of the lads. Skipped a challenge and produced a good forward ball today, need more of that. Mitrovic. Got himself a silly suspension. Is a massive, massive player for us now though. He has to hit the ground running from now on. Thauvin. Going based on a few games and his reputation in France. Just isn't very good. Got on the ball loads today, showed very little ability. Looks fairly quick but.. a long way from Ginola, Robert & Hatem. None of those needed any time to settle either. Overall... this wasn't enough. None of those lads look to be the finished product or exactly what we needed. If Mitro can hit the ground running after suspension that could change everything. The College Dropout
Horribly unbalanced squad. Lacks quality too imo. Power in key areas.

Given the right partner he could prove to be one of our best CB's, imo.

We all know that is down to Ashley and his penny pinching. Thauvin money gets you a Payet/Ayew from the same league. Wijnaldum might be better in the long-term but that money could get you N'Zonzi. We've gone down the "potential" route. But we needed to just get the best players fro the positions. We signed a bunch of young lads/no Premiership experience.
