Dokko
Roeder eyes up Polish striker http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/news/tm_headline=roeder-eyes-up-polish-striker%26method=full%26objectid=18157254%26siteid=50081-name_page.html Roeder eyes up Polish striker Nov 25 2006 By Luke Edwards, The Journal Newcastle United have been watching Polish international striker Radoslaw Matusiak as Glenn Roeder continues to search for potential solutions to the club's striker shortage. Matusiak is the hottest prospect in Polish football and the 24-year-old, who has scored twice in four internationals, has attracted interest from clubs in several of Europe's major leagues. The tall forward, top goalscorer in the Polish league, has been watched several times playing for his club GKS Belchatów by a United scout and sources in Poland claim the player is expected to leave for a major European side in the New Year. Whether this is Newcastle remains to be seen and the fact the Magpies have had their fingers burnt with untried foreign players in the past may mean Roeder is unwilling to take a risk on Matusiak. United are desperate to sign two new strikers during the transfer window as Michael Owen will not return until April at the earliest, while Shola Ameobi will miss the rest of the season following surgery this week. * St James's Park welcomes a long-awaited addition at the weekend. After the incredible scenes at Alan Shearer's testimonial, where fans waved free scarves, supporters were promised the gesture would be repeated this season. The club were unhappy with the quality of scarves they were provided with. But new ones are available for tomorrow's match.
Guest theunis
Is he hot or is he a big risk?
Dokko
Is he hot or is he a big risk? Never heard of him. We should loan him for small fee till the end of the season and have a set fee if we want him. If would be good for them even if we dont want him as people will get to see him, and interest will grow.

WhatTheFunk
We were linked to another striker aswell today, Yiannakis Okkas or something blueconfused.gif Fantastic player, and a Cypriot bluebiggrin.gif Seen him the other night against Germany. He was immense, and scored the equalizer for Cyprus. Bags of pace, unusual strength for someone his size. Knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. Guest Darth Toon
We were linked to another striker aswell today, Yiannakis Okkas or something blueconfused.gif Okkas is a decent player - quite fast and a good workrate. He's 29 now, and out of contract at the end of the season so wouldn't cost much. Was being linked with a January move to Blackburn, and is apparently keen on a move to The Prem, so shouldn't be a problem getting him if we are interested. STM
Didn't know that. I knew Podolski was born in Poland... didn't know Klose was. So was Borowski..... i believe. Think Neuville was born in Beligium or somewhere different to germany.
LooneyToonArmy
Didn't know that. I knew Podolski was born in Poland... didn't know Klose was. Borowski is German born. As for Klose, he is as much German as Polish ethnically. His father is a member of Poland's ethnic German minority. But ethnicity aside came to Germany young and grew up there and have German citizenship so are Germans, even if he is Polish born
