Decky
So if (when) we don't win the cup I'm guessing we have £20 million extra to spend on transfers? It'd be hilarious if we get eliminated in January when there's still time to spend it.
Hanshithispantz
More like if we win the FA Cup £20m will be removed from Rafa's transfer budget.
Decky
We'll have to sell a couple of players to fund the bonus. Probably sell them in January if we get to round 5 just incase.
Chris_R
No, because he's just stuck £400k on at the bookies at 50/1, saving himself £600k+ against his league offer.
Zero
Just curious, is 1m for 17th and additional 1m per place above good or bad offer compare with other clubs? I ain't sure but say we finish 15th, that's 3m share among our first team players, on top from their basic wages and all other kinds of bonus. No wonder footballers earn that lot nowadays. Away Day Gadgie
He's a fat pisstaker. It's like saying you'll give someone £20m if they build you a house, but they can only use a bucket and spade to do it. I absolutely despise this cunt, his trolling is actually getting worse! Yorkie
Genuinely does sound like a massive pisstake, it's not even remotely subtle. He knows they're never gonna win the cup. Urgh.
Decky
The rumoured payouts for staying in the league are utterly pathetic given how much the TV money is.
Klaus
He said he would sell the club if we win a trophy. He is just trying to speed up the process
Guest
The reason there was no transfer fund was that he gave EVERYONE employed at Newcastle United a 30% bonus for being promoted. Even the Foundation got it, people coming away with £5k bonus at the end of the year was canny, and that was just as the lower end of the pay. Players got it too. Figures 1-0 Football
Cant spend it on a player but will whack it on the table when we get knocked out in the 3rd round ever year!
LoveItIfWeBeatU
I'm sure Mike Ashley does want to sell NUFC. The only problem is he reportedly wants £450m for it which is way more than other clubs have gone for. He's held on to NUFC too long. The TV money has gone through the roof but so have transfer fees and player wages. The pool of possible buyers will have shrunk again due to the amount of money required to buy and fund a Premiership club. Also, the buyer has to accept that they'll almost certainly lose money rather than make money. We'd therefore need a buyer viewing their ownership of the club as a status symbol (e.g. Abramovich) or as a promotional venture (like the owners of Man City or PSG). Sima
 What an absolute melt. I think I'll write to the players offering them £100m if they win the league.

Yorkie
The reason there was no transfer fund was that he gave EVERYONE employed at Newcastle United a 30% bonus for being promoted. Is that true? How much is that likely to have amounted to, a few million? Surely it's a stretch to say that's the reason we didn't invest properly in the summer. We pulled £11million out of somewhere in our measly reserves, whilst everyone else presumably dipped into their next June moneys. That's been the difference imo. BlueStar
Don't buy players, offer bonus for winning cup, don't win cup because you don't have the players to facilitate a cup run, don't pay bonus. File alongside "I won't leave until we win something. And - important and relevant clarification - I count us finishing in the top four as winning something." midds
Ridiculous way to go on like, nothing more than flimsy pr shite. The annoying thing is that it'll soon get trotted out as another example of Ashley backing his man/pulling money into the club etc. The fact it'll never get paid or is irrelevant. People will see the words: Ashely bonus £20m and add it to the little imaginary kitty they believe he's invested. Fully expect Merson to be one of the first to do so. "he's given 'em twenty million Jeff!" I can hear it now.

NG32
Erm...he should have given rafa that 20 mil to help protect the league status. Seems like an empty offer to me as its unlikey we'll win it due to our thin squad. This is a Bishop press release to get yiur average nufc fan moist in their Y-ers and forgetting the appalibng running of the club.
