NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

Giving him a full squad of men who can play football at the Premier League level would be a start. Whether they're men of his choosing or otherwise.

Oh yeah, it was only Pardews tactical genius that kept this rag tag bunch of Championship Footballers in the league last season after all..

  People on here man.

He blatantly has that. He had it last year too.

He's got about 15 of them, and with that he should still do far better than he did last year. But the strength in depth is shit and needs to be improved, and if it was, that would constitute our shitty manager being "backed properly".

And yes, we'd still be shit.

Well if you mean we're short in some areas then yeah obviously.  Just the way you put it read to me like we've got a squad full of shit not capable of playing in this division.

I'd say he's got 18, but I still agree with everything else you said.

15 is more than most teams have and I'd say our backup is also better than whatever backup those teams have too. Can't begin to imagine how much shite will be on the benches of the promoted teams for example.

I quite like the squad we have, the manager failed them last year though. We are desperate for at least another striker but it wont define our season more than the manager.

Oddly enough, I think this whole Kinnear fiasco could pull the players and management together. Dont mistake that for rating Pardew as a coach.

I know this is controversial but in my view Pardew is rubbish AND Ashley doesn't back him properly.

I think if we use these two factors as well as adding in other - obvious variables -  then we get closer to the true situation

A bleak, miserable picture.

Why don't I see you going round making sarcastic posts in response to people saying Ashley isn't good enough then? You're always there when it's Pardew.

Because people are happy to blame him for everything and laugh off genuine excuses often missing the bigger picture.

Pardew is shit.

Can you tell from that sentence that I also think Ashley's shit?

Feels obvious to me that there is no cash been given yet for transfers. It's quite clear that when Ashley is willing to spend money then we go out and get who we want quite efficiently. (january signings) So far we appear to be faffing around waiting for someone to be sold before buying anyone ourselves.

Agree with this for the most part. Think we're bargain hunting this summer unless we cash in on Cisse, Cabaye, etc.

Its ridiculous and an absolute joke a club of our stature is rummaging in bargain bins and not utilising the extra TV revenue...FFS southampton and swansea have just spent 12.5 and 13m on a player. We should not only be able to compete but outmuscle these teams in the transfer market

I have just lost all interest in this football club recently and im just full of apathy.. we all know its going to be a shit season knocked out of both cups early and a few spankings along the way. and the same old shite excuses will be rolled out

This is just an assumption based on nothing though right?

When a club is still trying to arrange pre season frendlies on the 17th of july I dont think we have that much of a clue about transfers until its panic time

The extra TV money is due next year.  Obviously some clubs are willing to spend what they don't yet have, but for better or worse its been clear forever and a day that Ashley isn't.

Not saying we shouldn't be willing to within reason, just so many people seem to believe this extra TV money has already been paid.  I think what we spend this summer will come down to whatever revenue we have left for the year after expenses, what players we sell or what bargains come up (think we're always willing to spend something from future revenue if its seen as a bargain).

Yes, and I don't think I portrayed it as anything different. Just the feeling I get.

The simple fact is we finished 16th last season.

While other teams have attempted to strengthen where they can. We so far have let some squad players go and signed zero senior players and according to Pardew are only looking at signing 1 maybe 2 . With doubts cast over the futures of Cabaye and Cisse in-particular also.

So we were the 5th worst team, take away the 3 that went down that leaves Sunderland who have completely revamped their squad (good or bad can be debated but they are trying). So 2nd worst team out of 17 with no signings so far and the same manager who oversaw that season and now with the added situation of Kinnear being involved with the club again, we are a mess.

So I am praying the 3 that come up all struggle because at the moment I fear for us. Especially as we will need to pick ourselves up after what could be a battering on the opening weekend.

Thr funny thing is that all we may require is a 2-3 quality signings and everything could be looking better again. Shame I just can't see it :(

Despite my pessimism in regards to our transfer activity this summer I've actually become fairly confident about our season in the last 10 days or so. Assuming we don't sell any of our best players we still have a really good first 11 with decent depth in a couple positions. Obviously very thin up front, but it's the one area where I think we'll get at least one body.

for all we could improve in every position (as could all clubs really) i'd be happy with no outgoings, a remy/aubameyang type, for the starting line up, after that it's squad stuff.

I know Swansea are showing more ambition compared to us for getting into the Europa league.

But the clubs who are buying now, didn't really buy anyone in January, so if you look at it like that, the players we signed in Jan have already had the "settling in" period...

I think if we sign another 2 quality players (atleast 1 striker) I'd be content/happy though.

The thing was though, we had a good first 11 out for nearly all of last season certainly compared to the teams around us, but the tactics and set piece routines counteracted it. We do have good players, but ive no confidence in the manager, and tbh, the coaches, getting the best out of them.

Agree, I'm afraid... Cabaye, Ba,Cisse, Tiote and the rest worked well together - but now that AP got the time to have an influence he spoils it! We'd ve better of letting everyone (not Tiote) act on instinct! NO manager at all, and let some Random Dude pick the team...

Granted, last night was the first friendly, but the set pieces were the same. Vuckic took free kick on half way line, everyone up, and floated straight to the keeper. We should be working on new set piece routines.

totally agree with this, are very poor first half but towards the end of games when people like colo take over we look like a quality outfit
