Papiss Cissé

And there we have it, the human rights card has just been played.

:spit:

If you think Cisse then should be forced to practice his religion to the full, or none of it at all, then you're playing about with his free choice. No?

According to a well respected member of the local Muslim community, you can't pick and choose which parts of the religion to follow. Whether other religions do is irrelevant.

As implied by the PFA and Cisses agent, Papiss Cisse is not wearing the shirt because of religious beliefs. The photo in the casino then contradicts his stance as you can't pick and choose what parts of the religion to follow.

I've got my own personal opinion that the Wonga story is a smokescreen and there is an underlying story behind his decision that needs unearthed.

I don't really know what more there is to say, as someone said earlier though - this is just going round in circles and occasionly it's going way off track.

Who gives a f*** about what Allah demands? (I certainly don't anymore. :yao: ) Cisse is free to choose what to follow and what not to follow with his religion.

Me, if it means Cisse wont wear a top with Wonga written on. Despite the fact they give revenue to the club that then pays his wages - indirectly Wonga pay Cisses wages.

My point is that Cisse is free to practice his religion the way he wants it, as long as it doesn't break the laws of the land he's living in.

Basic human right, no?

Yes he is, and it is my personal opinion that it isn't his beliefs that is stopping him wearing the top. It is a smokescreen to cover his reputation as he trys to get a move elsewhere. My opinion by the way.

Why would he need to protect his reputation? Players agitate for moves all the time. If you're a big boy you can cope with rejection.

No idea. I'm playing 'Papiss Cisse outrage thread' Bingo. Just won a tenner!

But this opinion seems to be based on absolutely nothing.

Is this really about making yourself feel better after taking that photo and giving a silly interview. Are you now looking to say whatever to justify that sillyness?

No, I said it yesterday - I took the photo in November and just thought, "ah I'll take a picture and show the lads on the ferry tomorrow". The picture was never took with the intention of being in the public domain (if you think this isn't normal - check out players in public thread and you'll see many people taking pictures of players). I didn't post the picture on the internet and have only ever sent it to two people (My mate and Look north), Look North wanted it after it had already been in the paper so I thought I might as well, it doesn't make a difference. The "silly" interview I had consisted of me saying "Yeah he was there, gambling about a tenner or 20 quid per hand, I've seen him a couple of times and no he wasn't drinking alcohol".

I'm not arsed about doing it, the story was going ahead anyway and if I never said anything then another fan somewhere would have.

So what, man. He's entitled to his opinion, and he's not exactly the only one saying it.

He's a grass, he's got enough on his plate. Leave him be.

I only sent it to two people, one was Look North!

Ha! I knew how that would sound but they were going to use it anyway off the internet and just wanted me to send the original to see if the quality would be better. It had already been in the papers and the internet so isn't as bad as it sounds.

Nah I know, just found it funny. FWIW I don't think you did much wrong, just obvious how the papers were going to spin it.

He did nothing wrong, and maybe just maybe the stink this has caused has lost Cisse a bit of support and he may just back down and wear the shirt. That happens then the bit of bad press for Cisse may do some good for us for a change.

Think it's more likely to drive him away personally.

I honestly think he wants away, he really struggled last season and wants out. Will we sell I dunno but he is not going to have much choice if we don'y sell him.

Skirge clearly abides by the "treat 'em mean to keep 'em keen" rule.

I am pissed off with the whole issue but any other club would have sorted this out by now, it dragging on just harms the club.

Either find a middle ground or sell him, we aint going to drip Wonga so it will be Cisse who will leave or back down.

I'm not sure what the club can do apart from sell him and that doesnt happen over night. Not sure others clubs could have done much different?

They can't really do anything, if he point blank refuses to wear anything with the Wonga logo on it then surely he will be breaking his contract ? He is not an idiot he knows dam well the club will not cannot do anything about the sponsorship deal but he had support from the Muslim community but not the casino image is out he is losing that support.

I think he may back down and play but hope to move on in January.

I'm not sure 'any other club would'. Don't forget the third party involved who are currently "consulting and meeting with experienced people within football used to dealing with equality issues who are also members of the Muslim faith".

If the PFA are still doing that as of today, I can imagine any progress will continue to be as slow as hell.

"Islam isn't about picking and choosing."

Grow your beard then, you fucking cunt.

 Is that genuinely part of the Muslim handbook?

Growing a beard in Islam is compulsory, yes.

No it isn't  you get Hassanat (good points) for it as the prophet (pbuh) is said to have had one. It's by no means compulsory.
