That's a ridicilous statement

You don't need to be a muslim expert to tell they aren't a homogeneous group. Sure, if they all followed Quran to the word...but hardly surprisingly that is not the case.

"Islam isn't about picking and choosing."

Grow your beard then, you fucking cunt.

 Is that genuinely part of the Muslim handbook?

Whey, it's not a fashion choice.

All Muslim men must grow a beard no smaller than the size of their palm, or something.

Has to be fist length! :memelol:

Growing a stubble was the limit for me. (And even then that wasn't a great look. :scared:)

So our number 9 who is pretty much our only viable forward option has been told to stay at home for pre-season.  Why couldn't he have gone and trained and not played? It's sheer stupidity. The manager, who may actually play an important role in sorting out the dispute can't currently play any role in resolving the issue. It's pure incompetence. A recurring theme this summer.

Was he told to stay home, or did he withdraw?

Withdrawing is banned in the Koran too I think.

http://www.globalwebpost.com/farooqm/writings/islamic/exploitation_interest.html

An interesting(ish) article on money lending.

There is the following disclaimer at the beginning:

'NOTE for fellow Muslims: Because this topic of Riba involves what is haram (prohibited) and halal (permissible) in Islam, every Muslim MUST do his/her own due diligence and conscientiously reach own position/decision in regard to personal practice. In doing so regarding this matter or any other aspect of life, Muslims should seek guidance from the Qur'an and the Prophetic legacy.'

Also relevant to wonga is the following phrase:

"The lender is very likely to be wealthy and the borrower poor. If interest is allowed, the rich will exploit the poor, and this is against the spirit of mercy and charity. (This is the social aspect of the prohibition of interest)."

Madou Diene, the player's agent, said: "Papiss Cisse is not a gambler."

Howay man, I could understand the whole he doesn't have to adhere to absolutely everything argument, but now they're just outright lying.

Also:

"But what he's done now, seeing him in the casino, even if he wasn't gambling, I think this gives a wrong message.

Like I said, I don't understand why this has suddenly blown up when he publicly held charity events in Aspers before, he's hardly made it a massive secret.

You poor thing. I look lush with a beard.

I'd make a great Muslim, me.

And the bible too. A friend of mine once told me about a priest who kept a budgie. The budgie was called Onan, on account of the fact it was always spilling its seed.

According to a well respected member of the local Muslim community, you can't pick and choose which parts of the religion to follow. Whether other religions do is irrelevant.

As implied by the PFA and Cisses agent, Papiss Cisse is not wearing the shirt because of religious beliefs. The photo in the casino then contradicts his stance as you can't pick and choose what parts of the religion to follow.

I've got my own personal opinion that the Wonga story is a smokescreen and there is an underlying story behind his decision that needs unearthed.

I don't really know what more there is to say, as someone said earlier though - this is just going round in circles and occasionly it's going way off track.

Who gives a f*** about what Allah demands? (I certainly don't anymore. :yao: ) Cisse is free to choose what to follow and what not to follow with his religion.

Me, if it means Cisse wont wear a top with Wonga written on. Despite the fact they give revenue to the club that then pays his wages - indirectly Wonga pay Cisses wages.

My point is that Cisse is free to practice his religion the way he wants it, as long as it doesn't break the laws of the land he's living in.

Basic human right, no?

Fucking hell man @ this

People acting like he's violating the terms and service of his Muslim Nectar Card or something, "So you can just PICK AND CHOOSE now then can you, PICK AND CHOOSE!" erm, yeah. If you want to. He's a human being for fuck sake, he's capable of free thinking.

Yes he is, and it is my personal opinion that it isn't his beliefs that is stopping him wearing the top. It is a smokescreen to cover his reputation as he trys to get a move elsewhere. My opinion by the way.

And there we have it, the human rights card has just been played.

:spit:

If you think Cisse then should be forced to practice his religion to the full, or none of it at all, then you're playing about with his free choice. No?

Why would he need to protect his reputation? Players agitate for moves all the time. If you're a big boy you can cope with rejection.

No idea. I'm playing 'Papiss Cisse outrage thread' Bingo. Just won a tenner!

But this opinion seems to be based on absolutely nothing.

Is this really about making yourself feel better after taking that photo and giving a silly interview. Are you now looking to say whatever to justify that sillyness?

No, I said it yesterday - I took the photo in November and just thought, "ah I'll take a picture and show the lads on the ferry tomorrow". The picture was never took with the intention of being in the public domain (if you think this isn't normal - check out players in public thread and you'll see many people taking pictures of players). I didn't post the picture on the internet and have only ever sent it to two people (My mate and Look north), Look North wanted it after it had already been in the paper so I thought I might as well, it doesn't make a difference. The "silly" interview I had consisted of me saying "Yeah he was there, gambling about a tenner or 20 quid per hand, I've seen him a couple of times and no he wasn't drinking alcohol".

I'm not arsed about doing it, the story was going ahead anyway and if I never said anything then another fan somewhere would have.

So what, man. He's entitled to his opinion, and he's not exactly the only one saying it.

He's a grass, he's got enough on his plate. Leave him be.

I only sent it to two people, one was Look North!

Ha! I knew how that would sound but they were going to use it anyway off the internet and just wanted me to send the original to see if the quality would be better. It had already been in the papers and the internet so isn't as bad as it sounds.
