From FB, can't believe someone would actually write this:

It's part of the reason why even on Boxing Day (when traditionally every game sells out) against the champions, on the back of a good away win and with heaven knows how many free and cheap tickets, their stadium still has 7,000 empty seats.

Decent people who once supported Sunderland have just given up on the dump and left it to the ignorant aggressive rabble who now populate the backwater.

Although I do believe a reduced public transport service was thrown in as an excuse for yesterday's pathetic attendance rather than the old classics like the North Sea and mortality rates etc.

Parting with Marty has been postponed.

Yeah, he's been their manager again since they've fluked a couple of wins. Prior to that when they were losing it was still Bruce's team/squad.

Expect it to become Bruce's team again come the new year.

Strange logic at the SOS. Standing is a terrible offence that merits a ban, while pitch invasions,(In Derbies when they manage a goal) are more acceptable.

They're also fine with fans doing a 'Chicken Dance' when a black player celebrates a goal in front of them.

Albeit a Chicken Dance which is so poor it looks unerringly like a monkey impersonation.  All totally innocent i'm sure...perhaps he was a big fan of Arrested Development?

Arsenal fans I know that went up for a game said the same thing, thanked me for my advice about staying in Newcastle and got back to Toon as soon as the game finished.

They thought I was being biased before they went up but they still mention occasionally how much of a shit hole it is

Their fans are having a 'fight' with the stewards over being told to sit down all the time. Seemingly a group of 30 or so fans had their season tickets revoked for constantly standing up. So the rest of them are now protesting by... standing up.

The elaborate lies they'll come up with to explain their shite attendance is amazing.

Hope today's result hasn't changed the mood too much as it definitely looked like it was "Marty in" week after a couple of flukey wins.

He needs their full support for another couple of transfer windows if he's going to push them over football's fiscal cliff.

Well they're not getting Rose, Villas-Boas has said it's 'completely impossible' for them to get him permanently.

I think the options he'd have if he were to become available would rule sunderland out of any permanent deal.

15,000 empty seats against attractive opposition over the Christmas games, which always used to sell out, and that despite loads of cheapies and freebies.

Seems like it will only ever be full again for the visits of Take That and the north east's big club.
