THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE SPL.

Or the beginning of a new era.

The SPL needs a kick up the arse and this might just be it.

A proper league re-form is needed, it needs to be a proper league, not one for 3/4 of the season. It needs to be more balanced and with Rangers going Celtic won't have much of an encouragement to buy better players and in the end will fall in their quality leading to other clubs challenging them, especially with other clubs gaining money from Europe.

Scotland's bid for the Euro's could be key, if they got it then it could mean investment into stadia meaning more capacity for fans. Other clubs may be able to gather more fans, with Rangers existing in only a wormhole then surely thats more future fans for other clubs, more clubs challenging Celtic and again this creates more fans.

Yes the first few years will be hard but the SPL and the SFA need to play the long game here and the end result could be the best thing to ever happen to Scottish football. You just know they are going to fuck it up and allow Rangers in don't you?

In order for the newco (FC Lumpenproletariat Scum Of Glasgow, or whatever they're planning on calling themselves) to be admitted straight into the SPL next season they need eight member clubs to vote in their favour.  This means that five "No" votes will see their application rejected.

Celtic will vote No, their board wouldn't dare do anything else.

Vladimir Romanov detests the old firm so Hearts will vote No.

Rod Petrie has already outlined his position on the matter quite forcefully so you can bet your arse Hibs will vote No.

Rangers place in the league would be taken by Dundee so Dundee United will vote No because local derby income is greater than Rangers fans boycotting every away ground as they have threatened to do, it's a no-brainer for DUFC.

That's four for a start.  One more required, it shouldn't be too much to ask.  There will be some renegotiation of the TV deal but nothing as drastic as the usual media scaremongers have been suggesting, Sky and ESPN will still be there next season.  The league survived the Setanta collapse, this will be nothing like as bad.

Then they apply for membership to the Scottish Third Division.  And if that's rejected then they die.

Are you sure those clubs would vote against? I'd like to think so, but think you're being a bit optimistic.

If it goes down to a vote for the 3rd Division, they will get in no bother. Berwick chairman is a Rangers fan for a start and I can imagine a few more in boardrooms around Scotland. Spartans are the only other realistic application and they don't have too many friends around the SFL.

Celtic, Hearts and Hibs are nailed on imo.  United, Aberdeen and St Mirren are in the "likely to vote No" category.  Kilmarnock, Motherwell and obviously Rangers will vote Yes.  You can toss a coin for the rest.

Rangers fans have done their cause no favours whatsoever though by saying that they'll boycott away grounds next year.  On the back of that i wouldn't be too surprised to see five clubs vote against them.

Even if they do get voted against whats the chance of it being overturned on an appeal?

When do they vote as well?

They could appeal all they want, they'd be going back to the same clubs to vote on it though.

The vote will take place once a newco has been formed and has applied for SPL membership, whenever that happens.

So in reality it could mean that they could miss out due to the new season starting soon.

I hope we go down to the 3rd division and start again. Fuck the Spl, all they would do, again, is change their rules to fuck Rangers over yet again. The rest of the clubs can go fuck themselves aswell, quick enough to put the boot in but of push came to shove and they need the money you can bet that they'll vote in a newco. Who cares what clubs with big mouthed chairmen and fan groups like Aberdeen and Dundee united say? They are shit teams living off past glory and even without a Rangers in the league still don't have a hope in hell of challenging Celtic for the league title, all they can hope for is a lucky cup run.

Just make them join whatever the bottom league is in Scotland, seems fair enough and all the clubs in the pyramid can benefit from some full houses as they make their way back up to the Prem.

Eh, how has the SPL went out to fuck Rangers?

It's HMRC that has issued the winding up order on legitimate ground because Rangers defaulted on payments in tax and to creditors. No one has went out of the way to fuck Rangers over, it's the posit that is true.

The SPL has repeatedly bent over backwards for Rangers and Celtic by rejecting appeals from other SPL clubs to have an equal share of money distributed to them and also by allowing Rangers to field eligible players.

What a load of complete shite.  1 person fucked over rangers and it was David Murray (he is knighted but should have it taken away and investigated over his role in defrauding the tax payer of 75M over 15 years).

If anyone has f***ed rangers over, it was/is the people who were running the club.

Rangers, Screwed Rangers.

Rangers have no-one to blame but themselve, so deserve everything that comes their way. Even the sensible Gers fans agree with this.

Is it too simplistic to think it'll be ridiculous for them to be allowed back as a Newco in the SPL? Could just encourage more big clubs to gamble and spend more than the club makes to win leagues, get CL football, etc...and if it fails they can just think, "Ah well, nevermind, we can just come back as FC Leeds and be reinstated anyway". Probably not as clear cut as that mind.

It's a joke, and the fact that they can just transfer the likes of Ibrox over to the newco makes it even more laughable. Rangers could be playing at Ibrox in the SPL next season debt free. What kind of standard is that to set?
