Pedro runs forward and takes men on. And he's certainly not as skilled as Alexis. Tello is pretty direct too. We could use these skills, if he starts playing with more confidence and tries things that now doesn't.

I mean, he's had games where he's shown glimpses of this, but he seems shot right now.

It's ridiculous how you can sign these absurdly talented players who then struggle to fit into the way of playing. Zlatan, Villa, Sanchez have all functioned to an extent but never as they have done elsewhere.

Honestly i just think Sanchez is one of those players who excel in a counter attack system and struggle in a system like Barca's where there's a lot of tight spaces and not much room to move.

Think his overall skill set is limited in such a set up, think if Barca do buy Neymar then Alexis should go back to Italy to a team like Inter or Napoli or even Milan if they can rebuild to a good standard.

And then we have all those kids who at first glance are not world beaters but fit like a cog. We are very particular, I guess.

Didn't Zlatan blame Messi? Not sure how he could have complained like, though his ego is obviously massive...

“(Pep) was staring at me and I lost it. I thought ‘there is my enemy, scratching his bald head’. I yelled to him: ‘you have no balls!’  And probably worse things than that.

“I added: ‘You are s***ing yourself because of (then-Internazionale manager Jose Mourinho, whose side beat Inter in the Champions League). You can go to hell!’ I was completely mad.

“I threw a box full of training gear across the room, it crashed to the floor and Pep said nothing, just put stuff back in the box.

“I’m not violent, but if I were Guardiola I would have been frightened.”

Ibrahimovic also takes time to speak on the reason he left Barcelona in favour of a move to Milan.

“It started well but then Messi started to talk.

“He wanted to play in the middle, not on the wing, so the system changed from 4-3-3 to 4-5-1. I was sacrificed and no longer had the freedom on the pitch I need to succeed.

“So I asked for a meeting with Guardiola – for a discussion, not an argument. I said I was being used in the wrong way and that they shouldn’t have bought me if they wanted another type of player.

“I told him what a friend had said to me – ‘you bought a Ferrari but drive it like a Fiat’. The chat seemed to go well but then Guardiola started to freeze me out.

“I would walk into a room; he would leave. He would greet everyone by saying hello, but would ignore me.

“I had done a lot to adapt – the Barca players were like schoolboys, following the coach blindly, whereas I was used to asking ‘why?’. I like guys who run red lights, not pedantic and strict rules. So I tried to be overly nice, didn’t dare lose my temper.

“But after this I stopped trying to adapt. For example, Barca players were banned from driving their sports cars to training. I thought this was ridiculous – it was no-one’s business what car I drive – so in April, before a match with Almeria, I drove my Ferrari Enzo to work. It caused a scene.”

In a sense it was Messi's fault although he didn't mean it.....

First half of the season Ibra was ripping the league apart when he was main central focal point but Messi wanted to be the central and that limited Ibra's creative freedom and thus made his performances go down.

Ibra and Messi in the middle was never going to work in a million years as they both like to drop into midfield and be the false 9 both are more effective in that role.

I still believe to this day that if Messi stayed out wide then Ibra at Barca would have worked the main reason it fell flat on it's face was because Ibra's role was limited by Messi's desire to be the focal point of the team.

On the other hand if Messi was never moved to the centre he would never have become the player he is today so you can't have it both ways i suppose.

Getafe in talks to be sold to Carlos Slim, aka richest man in the world, according to a Spanish digital newspaper.

He can put aside some money to buy fans too.

Other Spanish clubs much more deserving of getting a rich owner than Getafe.  Think Espanyol deserve it. ;)

Pellegrini has gone public with the fact that Málaga's owner still owes a significant part of the wages to the playing staff.

A surprise 2-1 win for Rayo Vallecano at Malaga. A local suggested that the Malaga players didn't give their all because of the wages situation you mention. We enjoyed the game and you were right VI. It was very open. I started off wanting Malaga to win, as the "local" team to my holiday stay, but would have felt sorry for Rayo had they lost. They played really well. A player called Piti scored a couple of well taken goals.

It would be a pity if their season ended up collapsing. They started very strongly and Pellegrini still managed to build a competitive squad despite the chaos around the club and the sales of Cazorla, Rondón, Mathijsen, Maresca, etc... to balance the books somewhat.

Goes to show you can't build a  self-sustaining club while depending on a sugar daddy. The moment he gets bored... boom.

  • 3 weeks later...

Real are going to win tonight, aren't they? Despite how poor they've been this season and the fact they're playing Atletico.

Just can't imagine Real being 14 points behind Barca at the beginning of December...
