Interpolic
Don't know how anyone has the slightest iota of faith in McClaren's abilities and judgement at this point like, he's fucking toilet. I'd probably trust him to judge a player ahead of Pardew or Carver but that's not really such a massive endorsement. He'll go up in my estimations if I never see Colback wearing the shirt again though I suppose. He was our secret weapon coming off the bench when 3 nil down to Chelsea the other day though ;

Hanshithispantz
Unsure of relevance. Personally have reasonable levels of faith in McClaren's ability to judge whether a player can hack it at this level. If you don't, fair enough. He'd made his mind up on him before he stepped on the pitch for us, he didn't want him. Although it's a deplorable display of management our fettish of buying players the manager clearly doesn't want has cost us millions, and has us on the cusp of religation for the 3rd time since we came back up, it's complete madness. Earning loads of money doesn't mean you're a robot that has no feelings After about three seasons of playing football (starting at 21 and retiring at 24) on a modest £40k a week, you'll have earned £6m+ (not paying taxes as you have a offshore bank account) and be able to fuck off to live in the Caribbean and not care less about what anybody thinks of you. Oh my performances were rubbish because I was so sad that everybody was shouting at me... McClean is no shrinking violet and continues to voice his opinions, on all things, on social media, which has got him into trouble in the past. If you're upset by criticism, you wouldn't act like he does and regularly (as your link states) voice such distasteful opinions that he knows will spark a reaction. I'm sorry I just don't buy into it at all, I'm sure some footballers are terribly effected by it - but the majority could not give a toss.

Leazes_End_Mag
The heart bleeds for James McClean. Not that I condone it but that 50p coin stotting off his bonce, rather than Brunts would make the numerous replays of it a tad better.

Do you really believe the majority of players aren't in any way affected by criticism? One of the richest athletes in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo walked out of a press conference last week because he was asked a question about his lack of goals away from home Aye, to be honest I do. Obviously, some criticism will affect anybody - but the sort of stuff Thauvin has received is not enough for him to wimp off. How many NUFC players looked bothered by the criticism they received towards the end of last season like? How many looked terrified or scared? Or did they all just look uninterested? Ronaldo walking out of a press conference because somebody told him he is crap away from home is pathetic, over-dramatic and a professional footballer throwing his toys out of his pram. It isn't an example of a player breaking down emotionally because they've received harsh criticism. Maybe I'm thick skinned, but I'd happily be hated and have the lifestyle that they do - go home every day after training/matches and switch off, a bit like when I walk through the door from work and switch off and enjoy my time at home. Unfortunately, unlike these professional footballers - I don't have the option of retiring at 30 and buying myself a private island to live on away from all these nasty words. Figures 1-0 Football
What is your stance on footballers wages in relation to the wages received by members of the armed forces? I couldn't care less about how much footballers earn, I'd like to see them all take a wage reduction and spread the savings across ticket prices/invest it in grassroots football and opportunities for little ones but that is about it. My argument isn't about the size of a wage slip of a footballer, my argument is that for the wage they earn I would happily take the criticism that they receive and retire a happy man. Rompe
If you earn enough money, you automatically become immune to things such as being sad or feeling down. That's the reason why no footballers have problems with their mental health or anything like that.
