Guest bimpy474
4-3-3 Debuchy, Colo, Saylor or Mapou, Santon Sissoko, Cabaye and Marv Remy, Cisse or Gomis, Ben Arfa. Is how i'd play. 4-3-3 Debuchy, Colo, Saylor or Mapou, Santon Sissoko, Cabaye and Marv Remy, Cisse or Gomis, Ben Arfa. Is how i'd play. Think we still need a Tiote type in the centre of the 3, just behind two more attacking midfielders - Cabaye and Sissokho would be my choice I dont think we do, can you think of a good team in the top 5 or 6 who have a tackle as Pardew puts it. No but they have good tactical players, not sure we have players that are good tactically and disciplined which is why we need that type. May be worth a try but requires us to be a lot better at closing down off the ball It's all conjecture unless Pardew lets the players loose to play a bit more. We need more movement and ball retention, and some serious creativity to be anywhere near the top half.
Guest bimpy474
Crying out for a 4-1-4-1 tbh. Tiote sitting. Cabaye and Sissoko in the middle, Ben Arfa one side, Gouffran the other with Cisse on the last man. Just move the midfield 10 yards forward and get on the front foot. 4-1-4-1 defending, 4-3-3 attacking ?

nufc4eva
Sinclair would be much better than what we have if can't get Remy for that left slot, reasonably direct I think.

Besides, we set up defensive now and concede goals galore anyway.

KaKa
Feeling really down about things. Not even excited about possible new signings now. The manager is an absolute clown. The first half was disgustingly bad.

Cronky
The one chink of hope in that depressing perfomance was Vukcic, who looked confident and energetic. We need someone who can open things up down the middle and he might provide that.

That might be our best but it's crap as well, though. No creativity from the left, nobody to recieve the ball from the defence and no real goal threat. Very true, i think it's more about the football we play, it's so boring and we don't create many chances. I'll take any formation if we start playing well and create more. Deuce
Mainly because that lot nearly got us relegated. Point is there's no use arguing over formation. There will always be a square peg in a round hole.
Dave
1. Improve core fitness. 2. Gain confidence. 3. Work on new ideas. 4. Integrate new players. 5. Avoid injuries. I didn't watch the match, were any of these four addressed?

KaKa
How deep was Cabaye by the way? I understand him starting off there to receive the ball, but when the ball then went further forward he never moved! The gap in midfield was crazy, and it caused Tiote to try and do way too much. I really wonder if we'd be better off with Cabaye being bought by someone this summer. It would mean Sissoko dropping into midfield, and therefore never being played wide, and his more dynamic play would mean less of him sitting so deep I woul dhope. I understand him starting off there to receive the ball, but when the ball then went further forward he never moved! I have no problem letting Cabaye sit deep, provided we have the personnel in central midfield to complement a deep-lying playmaker. Which we don't. Having him play as a DM is asinine. Ronaldo
Oh good, the excuses have started again for Tiote. All Cabaye's fault he can't pass a ball 10 yards without gifting the opposition a chance.
