I live in Manchester, so not their biggest fan but of the many sticks to beat their fanbase with, manager impatience definitely isn't one.

Again, it’s the smaller loud section of their fanbase whose OTT opinions are amplified by the media and the cabal of ex players they’ve got doing the circuit on tv/radio.

After every Man U defeat it’s “who’s to blame” on Super Sunday or whatever the show is. No one ever has any answers. The club is in total disarray. This next guy will get some wins, take some defeats but imo won’t be much of an improvement.
 

They’ll still be a streaky little team who because of their finger pointing and going round the houses, amateur ownership, directionless playing staff and a management not able to meet the impossible demands just being “Manchester United”, they’ll fall someway short of challenging for too honours on the regular and being seen as modern equals of City and Liverpool.

Their squad is quite poor when you look at it.

Not going to pretend that I know an awful lot about Amorim but it appears as if this is pretty much as good as they could have done tbh. He seems very highly rated, already successful and has many many good years ahead of him. Hope he/they crash and burn obviously but the law of averages say they'll get it right eventually, this bloke could be the one

Well West Ham rejected him as they were unsure about his suitability for the PL. And they haven’t got a great track record of foreign managers themselves so for them to back away does show a slight red flag

There's always going to be big questions posed over any young, inexperienced manager coming from the continent regardless of the club tbh. We'll soon see how he copes but there's plenty of talent in the squad and if he's bringing something different it might just click fairly quickly.

 

It could also unravel even more obviously but if I was a betting man I think he's more likely to get it right than sink without a trace

I don't really know anything about this guy, other than a brief look at his wiki page. I'm probably missing something, but he doesn't strike me as being skilled or experienced enough for a Prem club the size of Man Utd... still, if it all goes further to shit for them, who am I to argue

Highly rated by who? Sporting? 
 

Seems to me that he was the next best thing this summer when he was linked to Liverpool. Then when they went for the baldy guy this Sporting lad wasn’t good enough for West Ham.

Stupid to write him off! Equally stupid to expect him to make them one of the best teams in the league as well. It will be a tough job but it could go any way really. Since when does it work to judge managers “on paper” ? It’s so much about fit/timing. He’s a talented manager.

I've just read a few opinions from people far more aware of him and what he's all about. I'll be perfectly honest and say I don't watch the Portuguese League at all so all I can do is form my opinion from those who do, he seems very highly rated but nothing is ever set in stone, we'll just have to wait and see how he does and what brings
