I WANT A WORLD CUP WALL CHART! But it's 2 days away and nothing will arrive in time. Any ideas? I don't have a printer.

Just write directly on your wall.

I'm planning to switch off and not watch this world cup. I'm sure that'll scare them when it's billions of viewers minus one [emoji38]

The price gouging by FIFA for any fans actually going has been absolutely ridiculous. As importantly, from a sporting point of view, too many teams and therefore too many pointless games meaning I'll have no real interest in most of them whatsoever.

I remember early phases in the Euros and World cups years ago where there were three meaningful group games every day, at different times allowing you to watch wall to wall football.

If England get to the final, I'll doubtless watch that in the pub. I probably should have already done that during the Qatar world cup.

No slight meant to anyone that's excited about it and really sorry if that sounds miserable, just tired of FIFA's greed.

I know, old man yells at cloud.

My son lives in Miami, and I'm thinking I'll pop down for a match (probably Uruguay v Cape Verde or Uruguay v Saudi). It's an easy trip, I have a free place to stay, and it's not the sort of thing we get to do all the time over here.

I expect the after market prices will continue to go down as gameday approaches. The prices being asked for the Colombia/Portugal and Brazil/Scotland matches are so incredibly high I honestly don't know how anyone can afford it (or justify spending that much).

Those “smaller” games are often great and I hope enough of each country’s fans go to make it a wonderful experience. I’m worried that die-hard fans from many countries will simply be unable to travel - see the BBC article above. Like I said before, the US should be the perfect country to have a Uruguay v Saudi match in because of the diaspora, I’m just worried the combo of FIFA and USCIS has fucked it up.

Hopefully the last-minute prices are do-able for you.

The "smaller" games are indeed very entertaining. Being in DC back in 1994, I witnessed one of (what I thought at the time to be) the greatest goals ever. When I saw the replay, I realized it was just shite defending. Still a big upset and a ton of fun. This part's damned depressing though (per the AI machine).

"Individual face-value ticket prices for the 1994 World Cup group stage matches at RFK Stadium were set at $25, $45, and $65 depending on the seating category. If fans instead purchased the five-game packages for RFK Stadium, the face-value series prices ranged from $140 at the low end, to $245 for mid-tier, and $355 for the best seats."

Even accounting for inflation you could get into the stadium for ~$55 in today's dollars back then.

I’m heading to whatever WH Smith’s is tomorrow to try to track down a WSC.

I’m not sure they sell it in shops anymore. I had to order one online for the last Euros.

I subscribed for decades. I only realized recently that this is my first World Cup in Blighty since 2006. Got Saturday’s Guardian so that’s my fallback.
