SEMTEX
Well now stop being silly bro. The championship is awful. He would score at least a hundred goals.
mrmojorisin75
Re; Gayle, I have a feeling that if dropped down to the championship now he'd actually flop quite badly compared to last season. Seems much slower now. Ironically since he's been getting more game time he's looked a much better all round striker imo at a higher level.
Interpolic
On average he's also banned 20% of the time. 6.8% actually. He has played 3 836 minutes for us and has been banned for 10 matches (900 minutes) I think. So out of a possible total of 4 736 minutes he's been banned for 19%. This is very questionable maths

What about the endless matches where he has been fit and able to play, but hasn’t started a game? Is that not ‘possible minutes’ that he could play? Happinesstan
Its a bit unfair to say since Mitro arrived he has 10 goals but then not say since Gayle arrived in the same competition he has less when he actually has more. Sigh, ok, in the premiership then: Mitrovic = 1 goal every 4 games Gayle = 1 goal every 4.7 games Joselu = 1 goal every 5.3 games So yeah, Gayle has more goals, but he's played more games, so your point is moot. Actually if you factor in that Gayle scored a lot of goals as a sub he scores a goal every 206 mins whereas Mitro scores one every 226 mins. Link? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aleksandar-mitrovic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/51152 https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dwight-gayle/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/196522 Mitrovic in Prem: 1 goal every 227 minutes Gayle in Prem: 1 goal every 211 minutes Gayle in Prem 17/18 for NUFC: 1 goal every 352 minutes. Mitrovic in Prem 17/18 for NUFC: 1 goal every 152 minutes. You can make stats into whatever you want tbh. You're only as good as your last performance. Happinesstan
Stats don't tell the whole story (as if anybody doesn't know that) Last time both strikers were in the premiership Mitrovic was a promising youngster beginning his adventure leading the line for a team that lacked creativity, whilst Gayle was a 26 year old, struggling to get a start for Crystal Palace. I would say their most recent stats are the most revealing.

It’s effecting his goal scoring game though. Mind there is no-one more at the club I’d trust to put the ball away and he could have easily had 7 or so goals this season if not more on chances alone. Stottie
Gayle gets into good positions but I think the recent misses show that he's not very good with his head. I watched the highlight reel recently and there weren't many headers among his Championship goals either.

samptime29
So what happens if we don't sell him and no new striker comes in? Will he still be frozen out?
hoppaz
Yup or we loan him out wait till he has a good World Cup in the summer and then get loads more money for him.

Footsoldier
So Rafa doesn't want to sell mitrovic because he'll improve another team which probably has much better forwards than we have. But he doesn't need him to help save a sinking ship here because he doesn't think he's good enough. When our options are a joke. So he won't sell him to buy unless its abroad as half the league are a few losses off a relegation spot and a safe club don't need him. The logic escapes me. Guest neesy111
May rafa might be using not selling Mitrovic as a way to get back at the hierarchy at the club?

Not a clue what Mitro has done, but he’s very clearly done something to irk Rafa. Good/bad is a bit of a basic way to look at it. I think it's much more likely that Rafa thinks he's unsuitable for us, but could be suitable to Brighton because of the way they play. Mitrovic simply isn't good enough for us to change the way we play to suit someone who's let us down time and time again with sending offs and suspensions - which is obviously the thing that's irked Rafa. Heron
Not every player fits every team like so it's not that illogical. Rafa wants someone he can rely and trust to bring others into the game and not go off sulking when he doesn't get his own way. Hence Joselu. That being said I do think Mitro deserves a fairer crack at the whip, but expect that Rafa is also right in his judgement. Why would we sell to anyone in the bottom 11. That goes for Shelvey too who has been rumoured away. Seems to me that it's as much trying to turn people's heads as owt else.
