Roy's an idiot. Arrogance has cost us.

Nah, his tactics cost us.  Whatever personnel would have struggled to score in that system.

fwiw, we'll do better against the stronger sides in the knockout phases playing it.  Would have been nicer if we had a path that was more likely to avoid some of the big hitters in the quarters.

Still. Go with your strongest side. Find a rhythm. Find the best team.

Not really. Could've been a couple of goals to the good at HT even with Henderson, Bertrand, Wilshire et al on the pitch. A broader lack of quality in the final third throughout the squad has cost us. We don't have a single player capable of crossing a bloody ball.

Hard to know how good (or bad) you are. Should have been getting the ball into the box more near the end IMO, didn't seem to be much urgency. Where do Portugal have to finish for you to play them?

I think people are forgetting how lacking in quality England are overall. There's no pressure for that reason, obviously should have won still, but the number of changes is the reason for that, rather than the players who were actually as good as you'd expect them to be when asked to break down a team like that. Definitely Hodgson's fault imo.

Should have won, but the attack was often a bit slow and deliberate, and by the time a shooting opportunity came up, the opposition was well set to get a block in. Hopefully we'll find more space playing against a team that's prepared to attack more.

I think the problem with Sturridge is that whilst he's good, he's not as good as he thinks he is. Occasionally aspiration and ability meet in the middle and we get something, but a lot of the time he either loses possession or misses an obvious pass by looking for something marvellous. He must be very difficult to play with because you never know when he's going to give you the ball.

Not sure the goal last week helped his game. Its fine to drop off every now and again, but our best chances were vardys knock on to him that was blocked & the ball over the top to him. If you have two in there, the cbs will be stretched. Instead as we were struggling to put in incisive passes, he kept dropping out of the box & was putting in crosses to Bertrand at one point. Not what you want from a striker consistantly.

Really fucks me off when people try to gloss over the fact we changed SIX of the starting eleven, from what was clearly Hodgson's 'best' team. It was a big call, and if we'd won then fair enough. But we didn't win. It absolutely fucking matters.

But we didn't score. Fine margins.

Jordan fucking Henderson.

So our route is now:

Last 16: Group F runner up (any of Portugal, Hungary, Iceland or Austria)

QF: probably France

SF: probably Germany or Italy

Final: probably Spain

Other half of the draw was significantly less tough.

Peace of piss

Was fine in isolation. Doesn't bode well for playing more aggressive teams.

Don't think it tells us much about that tbh, Vardy played well first half but was locked out in the second, Portugal (if we have them) are going to have a much rougher time against him and Sturridge as they'll not set out to stop them playing.

Plans for an all day session on the drink watching England on Saturday ruined. Christ sake.

This is the absolute worst part of it.

When is the fixture now?

Monday night. Bah.

At times, it looked like he didn't want to go for a 50-50 challenge. I don't think he's afraid of getting hurt, more like his ego doesn't fancy the prospect of losing out and looking (in his head) a bit silly. He's a poser.
