Dwight Gayle (now playing for Hibernian)

Recommended Posts

If we have a replacement then I'd sell in a heartbeat. He was great in the Championship but if we were relying on his goals in the PL we'd be in deep trouble. I have a feeling he might know that the Championship is his level.

The downside to Gayle going would be that Mitro would most likely be staying, I can't see us getting 2 strikers in.

Bony to Swansea.

Llorente to Chelsea.

Batshuayi to us.

pls

Means no Kenedy, can't sign two players from on loan from the same team.

If we had the choice between the two, I'd go for Michy. Still, it's a pipedream. But it's my pipedream, so fuck off.

Fair enough. Off i fuck.

If Rafa really does have say over all transfers, which it seems like he does. Then in order for this to go through we must have someone lined up as a replacement, as otherwise it make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Absolutely, a point a lot of folks are missing, Ashley has been very clear in his message that Rafa approves all incoming and outgoing transfers. Here's his direct quote from the interview he gave" let's be crystal clear, Rafa makes all the final decisions on players out, players in, "

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/10986341/mike-ashley-speaks-direct-newcastle-united-owners-exclusive-interview-with-sky-sports-in-full

If Ashley sells someone without Rafa's permission then Rafa would have a pretty watertight case for constructive dismissal, that would cost Ashley a bundle. If this does happen, it's because Rafa wants it to, not in this case because our owner is a greedy b****** (which of course he is).

The problem is though that Rafa will say yes to sell him so long as his replacement is coming in. We'll sell him, and the replacement will fall through.

People say Rafa is ruthlessi can see him going but only if a replacement is lined up..We could all ger a shock end up with Origi and a number 10 for decent money

or wake up Bobby Ewing is in the shower and Colback gets the number 9 shirt

The one thing about January and this window that Rafa has surely learned is that he can't rely on the ownership to get signings over the line, so he'll surely not approve any sale without the replacement not only agreed but actually signed up.

That and Celtic will want £25m plus, which will just rule us out.

Was supposed to be off to Marseille for £20m.

Can't see him leaving Celtic until they're out of the Champions League, so he wont have long to wait like.

Tell all the boys you know

Dwight Gayle is gonna be sold

If there's cash we can get

To try and pay off Mike's debt

Dwight Gayle is gonna be sold

Bit of an off topic question, but is there anything in that notion? Or are the official numbers/accounts proving it wrong?  Like, does Ashley run the club like he does to put millions in his own pocket? As we owe him?

Rafa has the final say on transfers, it's only the fund that is the issue, so this must be approved by him, and he should know that the chance of getting a replacement at this moment is slim.

Thus, the most possible answer is, the rumour that "someone" clashed with Rafa in training ground is real and, Rafa has decided to not playing Gayle anymore, thus rather than rotting in the squad Rafa prefer to sell him ASAP.

I honestly can't think of other scenario if Rafa still has the final say.  And in addition, given there is intl break, Rafa should handle the transfer negotiation himself, so replacement shouldn't be a problem.  The problem is the reason for selling Gayle may not be for funding replacement, it could just due to Rafa doesn't want Gayle in the team anymore, which in this case we really won't get any replacement and Joselu Mitro are our only option for this season.

The club still owe their owner £129m “in the form of interest-free loans from Mike Ashley and companies under his control”, to use Newcastle’s wording.

You missed out another part that makes it around 164M total.

I think we will sell if we get 15 million and have a replacement. The difference between being a good Championship striker and a decent, 10-a-goal-per-season PL striker is huge. Gayle can score, but with our defensice set up we need more. He cant really hold up or create chances for himself. To play alone in our system you have to be lightning quick or able to hold up the ball. I think if he stays, he will be on the bench most of the time.

Unfortunately the price of a decent 10-goal-per-season PL striker with 2 days to go in the window is probably about 3x what we'd be willing to pay.
