If our recent transfer dealings are anything to go by, we are not very good at selling the club, Keegan was an absolute master at it.

Keegan was a huge name at the time.  It matters.

He was because he knew we could aim for the top. There was no cartel controlling world football then. He didn't fare so well when he had to work under Mike Ashley's stipulations did he? His second spell would be a better comparison with how we are hamstrung by SCR currently.

No, but you're making the club look stupid which isn't a good look. It also breaks the trust between fans and club which can have a long term impact.

No one really gives a flying fuck outside the club about what Hopkinson has said. It's a statement of intent or wishful thinking, frame it however you like.

All that really matters is being able to buy the best players, and we are legally prevented from doing that. That's going to be the real issue regardless of who the owner is. Bring on Walt Disney, or the owner of New York Giants and see if it makes the blind bit of difference.

If we swapped owners with Liverpool, do you think we'd suddenly start outperforming them because they had PIF and we had Fenway?

Good to see the usual suspects not throw their toys out of the pram on the back of an agent and player of another club fucking our transfer team over, an event completely and utterly beyond the control of the club ownership

Tbf I’m not sure how challengeable the rules are - why haven’t Villa or Everton done it, for example?  We also have no idea about what was agreed with the PL when the sale of the club was eventually sanctioned.

I get the feeling it's more to do with nobody wanting to stick their heads above the parapet tbh. I wouldn't think any agreement with the PL would be worth a jot if it was made under duress, was unreasonable in terms of competition/investment into a business or just plain illegal. I wouldn't be surprised if the PL are going along with dragging the Man City alleged breach situation out because they know a) Man City would be able to successfully challenge it for some reason and b) if a successful challenge happened it would open the floodgates to teams like us, Villa, Everton, plus anyone previously clobbered, having reasonable recourse to put their own cases forward. I imagine Man City are happy enough to let things carry on as they are, while at the same time it keeps the shyster clubs like Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs happy and less likely to want to split off to some god awful super league, damaging the PL product.
